The single reason I don't play this
I really like ESO, played it quite a bit. The one reason I don't play anymore, is bar switching. I hate it that much. I know it's a simple thing, but if you'd just let me keybind all my skills, and get rid of the back/front bar stuff, I'd play this game forever. Throwing that needless global cooldown in all the time just absolutely kills the flow of the game, and takes me out of it every single time I do it, it just feels bad.

/shrug. It's amazing how something so simple, can have such a big impact, but there you go. I'm sure it doesn't bother many people, and I'm sure it will never change, but it is the reason I don't play this game.

It is pretty tedious.

Games that actually want offer the best accessibility should look to Final Fantasy 14 and how they handle both kbm, controller and UI. Yoshi P even said he's fine with it if others want to use it.

Of course, you'll get others that will be like: just practice it or get gud, but it's really not about getting good. It's more like a low effort hamster wheel carpal tunnel simulator.

I play Everquest 1 as my main mmo and have ESO and FF14 as my casual mmos and I still find ESO more tedious from a UI perspective. That's how lackluster it is.

then don't switch bars..?

It's not optimal but you can get a mythic ring item now that gives you pretty much all of the buffs in the game, with the caveat of disabling your second bar

So basically you lose out on two ability slots, but you can play comfortably without needing to switch, but yeah it is not optimal so if you'd end up wanting to push group PvE content on end-game you still need to bar switch

A sidenote, I would also love if all buff skill were standardized to a minute
20 seconds is just way too much of a hassle sometimes, especially on Templar

Oakensoul enters chat …

Oakensoul, as others have said. It's a needless work around to a sloppy system but it solves the issue. It really, really simplifies combat and that's a double edged sword in a game that's already super easy though.

switching bars isnt a global cooldown tho. sounds like a ping issue. with high ping the bar switch can be pretty annoying laggy.
but as others said, just do oakensoul gaming. as long as you dont want to do hardest vet trial content or speedruns, thats enough.

Guild Wars 2 has weapon swapping and animation canceling as well. ESO does it better.

I'm only six hours in so this may be a stupid question but "what are you talking about, what are bars and why do they switch, and why is that an issue for some ppl?"

At lvl 15 you unlock a separate weapon slot that comes with a separate action bar to match your abilities to your weapon type. You can then switch between the two in combat, which, evidently, OP doesn't like.

Oh thanks for getting back to me, that sounds usable to me and why not just not place a weapon there then you could click all the buttons you want and nothing would happen right.

weapon swapping takes approx .2 seconds and is a major feature.

best of luck finding another game.

I am grinding out Oakensoul, coming from WoW bar swapping was weird for me,I can do it, but honestly I am just too lazy to get better I guess. Give it a go, because this game is pretty great. My quirks are the addons and load screens, I also wish we had a central auction house. :Ebonheart:

Yep not to mention a 9-10 sec cd to swap again in or just outside combat unless you have cd reduction
