This.
People are either expecting another copy/paste of Skyrim or another WoW-clone. ESO is neither of these.
I'm just doing my part for the people who are curious and may consider purchasing this game in the future, by sharing my feelings about the game it may ward people off. It didn't go from 15k people playing on Steam down to 543 because it's a "good" game that's for sure.
If it went on a 99% discount it's still a gigantic waste of money. In fact, if they paid ME $50 bucks up front and then $15/mo after I would consider playtesting it again for them. As it is, paying for this game to agonize through the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ artwork and terrible netcode is like paying $20/hour to go to a construction site and start working hard labor.....you know....instead of getting paid, because that's how awful this game is....I'd rather commit to shifts of agonizing hard labor than sit through anymore of this crap.
If you want to inform people that much, you should get the right informations and sources.
Steam isn't the only way to play TESO, far from it. Last I read population was around 700k. You don't need 20 millions of sleeping accounts like WoW to be successful. Heck, 543 must be the number of Age of Conan's population I can barely meet any player outside the capitals while in ESO I get the chance to meet players in every corner of each map.
Sure this game isn't perfect and has bugs, but seriously which game hasn't ?
If you don't like the style etc, it's fine, but don't may it look like what you're thinking is a universal truth. It's not and the game is still alive and well, with promising future updates.
The only redeeming part about it is the PVP when there isn't much lag, which is rare. The truth is that I've seen several guilds fall apart because so many people have left the game, and the population is dwindling down. Promising future updates, yes, but as far as that goes those are vaporware and irrelevant until they actually come out. Don't buy a game because of promising future updates, the here and now is all that matters. The here and now is a suck fest.
I could have set fire to 50 bucks and gotten more enjoyment from it.
Again, if you know where to look for information about these updates, you would have known there are already many posts from the developpers and even videos showcasing what will come. Personnally, I didn't bought the game for these updates. I just wanted to try it again after a dissapointing Beta and I don't regret it really. And hearing news from devs themselves is a huge plus to my eyes.
If you knew how MMOs works you should have known also that when it's released the game will lose subs no matter what. Then the population will be stable. I can't count how many times I see new players asking for help in /zone chat.
I haven't tried PvP yet but ESO isn't about PvP only, PvE, quests, exploration and voice acting are good. If you play an MMO just to PvP you're in the wrong genre dude.
MOBAs and FPS games just do it way better with proper balance.
However these quests despite using different NPCs follow the same model :
- you come to a new place
- a ghost/npc says it has been attacked by baddies
- you need to get X item or kill X mob
Most of them are like that, up until lvl 30 (didn't bother to continue I was bored and deleted my sub before Zenimax got the
There are also quite a lot of issues, but mainly it's the gameplay that gets boring.
I have 1400 hours of played in Skyrim and I'm reinstalling it... lol
