The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Necrom & ESO plus
Hello there fellow gamers,

I was thinking of buing ESO for some time now but I was always hesitant with the prices and the microtransactions inside the game.

The game is currently on a big sale, and I am here to ask some things I need clarification on.

I was thinking on buying The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Necrom which includes The Elder Scrolls Online Standard Edition (base game), Necrom and all previous Chapters - High Isle, Blackwood, Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset, and Morrowind and through ESO website I see that ESO plus gives Full access to all DLC game packs available in the Crown Store - new zones, quests, dungeons.

My question is, does necrom contain all of the zones that eso plus also gives or does eso plus unlocks all the zones and necrom unlocks a portion of those?

Is it worth buying just the necrom collection for 20E and playing the game as is, or ESO plus is a must if you want to get the full experience?

Thanks in advance!

I am not into buying cosmetics in any game anyways so just having to grind for the lets say rest 20% of the crown store is fine by me. Play the game and what the collection offers, grind gold that can be traded for crowns and get the rest from there. Sounds good.

Thanks for the clarification and the awesome discussion guys, I will be most likely buying the Necrom collection and joining this community real soon.

Hope I can catch you online hehe

Oh also you'll be starting off with 500 crowns. The second cheapest crown bundle will give you 1.5k crowns so if ya willing to drop a bit of cash right away, you can pretty much buy an DLC right away from the crown store, just make sure you've got your steam linked to an ESO account first... There has been problems of the crowns not coming through if ya buy then link accounts. As for catching me online. Depends if ya play in the NA or EU server XD

Can I link an ESO account with a steam account before even buying the game? If yes I will get to it right away.

I am from Greece so I will be most likely playing in EU.

I would assume you can link before buying ESO on PC via Steam. But then if you don't when you load the launcher up, it will ask you go make or link an existing ESO account to your Steam account.

I will check ESO website and see if I can do it beforehand so everything is set up when I get into the game. Thanks for all the help!

No worries. Also with the Nercom collection you'll have access to the Warden, Nercomancer and the newest class that I can't remember how to spell the name of right now XD

Great. I created an ESO account and linked it to Steam. I will be good to go when I buy the game.

The correct answer is based on how ZoS distinguishes between Chapters and DLC. Besides one exception very long ago when it was still subscription based game (e.g. Wrothgar), new content is released annually as one major expansion Chapter, plus each Quarter between those as smaller content DLC (usually smaller zone plus two new dungeons). So (3) DLC plus (1) big Chapter each year.

ESO+ for one monthly fee gives every DLC ever published, but NOT the latest Chapter, nor any new classes those Chapters provided if bought separately. So far, one year AFTER the last Chapter has been out, it is then included for any zones + dungeons it came with. The few things not included are specific extras obtained by purchasing the Chapter - like extra character slot unlocks, and new classes like Warden and Necromancer. Those were made as separate purchase in Crown store if didn't buy the Chapter and got free with ESO+.

Besides content, perks like double bank space plus unlimited craft bag inventory is to be honest the main selling point for many players, for ESO+.

All Chapters, in order since game release: Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr, Greymoor, Blackwood, High Isle, and Necrom

Subscribing to ESO+ plus today gives all the above Chapters except Necrom, until presumably next year around June. Following pattern established, it should then be added to ESO+ (minus the extras noted above like classes, extra character slots, etc)

Buying current Necrom collection pack gives all of the Chapters, which includes every single thing they came with, including any minor cosmetics (mounts, collectibles, emotes, etc). It does NOT include one single DLC content pack. Which would be tons of smaller map zones, all dungeons associated with those DLC, plus any specific raid/trials not tied to Chapter zones.
