And if everything feels wrong, you are probably the issue.
Well yeah, obviously I'm the issue, but I'm looking for advice and suggestions to push past that
This is my first mmorpg type of game so it was very hard for me to go in and start trusting strangers to play with. I found that there were very good people and some not so good. Some have strong patience and others will bite your head off simply because they are jerks.
It is this recommendation of finding yourself a guild(s) that is the most promising.
Look for a laid back community that will help you and encourage you.
It is much more fun to play with people that you come to know than just playing with a pick up group. One thing you are going to do is make mistakes, and so will they. After a time you will be able laugh with each other AND at each other. I think they call it friends. lol
Its so much harder to to be overwhelmed when you have guild mates standing beside you, many who have stood in your role and faced the same question, "Am I good enough?" As you gain levels you will also gain confidence.
DPS uckk. I see so many players talking about DPS, and I have looked and read articles on DPS and still can not understand how the HELL you get 40K of dps and have found no clear description of how they got that level. It seems to be a combination of the CORRECT skills fired off in the CORRECT order at the CORRECT amount of speed with the CORRECT buffs applied at the CORRECT time and used against the CORRECT dummy. Freaking makes my head hurt LOL.
Last thought, Its not about Beating the game, its about Enjoying the game. Relax. Have Fun. Make some friends. Enjoy yourself.
Good luck fellow player
This pretty much.
If all you do is group with random players, you're going to need thick skin if you are still learning.
You can avoid all that if you play with friends/guildmates. They know where you are at and will put up with any slips/trips/falls until you get the experienced needed.
In terms of DPS, sadly, unless you use specific builds, dps isn't all that great across the board unless you play specific classes that are really strong at that particular time. With that said, it's not like you have to pump out crazy numbers to defeat most veteran content. You only have a few specific circumstances where boss fights/encounters are a dps/gear check before you get killed. Most of the time, even if you dps is low, you can still power through if you manage your resources and just stay alive.
Edit: If you really want to pi$$ off those people who rag on you about your ability, then focus on staying alive. There have been circumstances where I was the only one alive during a veteran boss encounter and decided to solo it. People start freaking out and are like: dude, just die and let us rez and start over. I figured, if I had to put up with their BS during the dungeon run, I'll return the favor.
I've had groups rage quit after they looted the boss. ROFL.
tank should have frost staff/shield - shield has a easier to spam taunt- currently have a decent necro tank - bone armor pulls in enemies, use staff to taunt bigger mobs, graveyard for aoe , ult regen from consuming corpses.
Dps - rotation is important knowing how to stack damage and debuffs- I don't run any specific build just what makes sense to me- poison damage over time nightblade / burst sorcerer
i will add before going any further vet dungeon are usually where the toxic pve players are, if you are .09 seconds off optimal runs then let the toxic chat spew. Stick with regular dungeons or find a casual group as others have said. and by no means am i an amazing/ knowledgeable player I just know my skills/gear work for me.
