no need to get any organized group for good pvp gear.
a lot of stuff can just be bought from guild traders or earned in pvp itself.
even some monstersets can be get via pvp.
only a few gearsets useful for pvp require pve group content and its pretty easy. no hard trial stuff. everything can be done solo or matchmaked.
(which is essentially solo play. otherwise pvp wouldn't be solo, too)
pvp is only a problem, if u run into it with some pve max dps gear without any defenses.
I PvP in full Divines and Infused, but granted I learned how to dodge, play vampire stage 4 (Not a typo as I actually do go max stage), and keep my buffs up with 27k HP.
Although it seems OP is talking Battlegrounds... I'm sorry OP but in Battlegrounds your champion points are turned off. Any and all benefits you get from them is disabled meaning you'll be completely relying upon your passives, active skills, and gear you bring with you. You need the right traits, muscle memory, and build in order to even survive in above level 50 Battlegrounds because it's a very brutal place.
Oh, and Battlegrounds isn't very well balanced for 4v4v4 in my opinion so I'd recommend Cyrodiil instead to get your feet wet in PvP. Cyrodiil does require some getting used to though, but I recommend trying to pick one of the most populated campaigns and sticking to the front line to get fights.
Gear still matters in Cyrodiil, but if you go no-CP Cyrodiil PvP then any proc sets you have equipped will cease to work. A proc set is a set that has the conditional of "If X happens, do Y".
Also the only gear you need gold quality is weapons as the spell/weapon damage given by having weapons equipped boosts both damage and healing you do. The armor you wear only needs to be purple quality to be good, and boosting it to gold quality isn't necessary.
Unless you actually meant that 10% of the entire game will be shut off, which is just absolutely wrong.
Welcome to every PvP game ever.
If you are lucky enough to find a new MMO that has good PvP, congrats - you discovered a something akin to a will-o-wisp in real life. However, just like the will-o-wisp, it is ephemeral.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
1st: you can do most quests / delves / skyshards without getting ambushed. Even deep in hostile territory. This should help you to find some gear.
2nd: someone said: get CP810 first and try to have hitpoints above 25.000. Otherwise you'll be considered an easy kill.
3rd: PvP fun depends on what you enjoy most. If you only enjoy PvP by being the biggest baddest and most succesful dude on the field, you won't enjoy PvP at all.
If you enjoy PvP as a healer or someone supporting your alliance with siege equipment and generally doing team gameplay, you'll easily fit in even without a perfect PvP gear.
4th: your worst enemy isn't the zerging group ahead. It's acutally a sneaking nightblade doing massive damage if he/she gets behind you.
Your best friend in the other hand is a good group. Even if you're not part of the unit, you still can support them and still earn experience.
5th: PvE gear doesn't really work in PvP and vice versa. In PvP it's all about blunting enemy damage, criticals and armor penetration. You won't do any damage if you're dead. Some of the builds you'll encounter are called "troll builds": not only do they have a huge health bar, they also have a massive passive health regeneration and thick armor. Like trolls. ;-)
