How does modding work in 2023?
I played this quite a few years ago and I remember installing addons was very easy, I just loaded them up from Nexus and the Vortex mod manager and they would work. Now, every addon I've tried to install comes up as an error even the up to date ones.
Am I doing something wrong, does nexus/vortex mod manager not work for ESO anymore?
I have no idea how to install them manually for ESO since things changed since I last played.

The real place that is far more better is this place https://www.esoui.com/addons.php and if you would like a mod manger that handles the instail and when there is a update to the addon and such get yourself minion https://minion.mmoui.com .

BTW nexus isn't fully bad as there are some really great addons is just a shame that many creators don't do what creators on esoui do (keep them nicely up to date to keep them working)

Personally I only use Skyshards, but as others have stated ESOUI is the best goto it seems.
Updating is mildly annoying because I have to re-download all of the dependencies and any of the dependencies' dependencies.

It's easier than a Bethesda game though, since there's no ini editing involved; it's all drag and drop from Zip folder to Documents folder once you have all the zips.

Just install Minion (addon manager) instead. You are probably missing a lot of the Dependencies like I was and Minion will help get those easily.

I mostly just roll with UI and map mods tbh.

addons for skyshard/lorebook locations, coloured map pins, mini map, dark UI, Adaptive/advanced settings, etc.

Minion definitely helps out a ton with sorting out addons with both ESO & WoW.
