Is it worth it for only the base game?
Thinking about to buy it, is the base game allone worth it? I plan on playing solo. I read that you need darkwoods to have a fellow npc, is that true?

Couple recent threads about this just set your number of posts to show to 50 instead of 15 and you should see them, but in a nutshell yes it's worth having the base game you'll get hundreds of hours just out of it alone, as for the companion I'm not sure, and hey if you haven't heard or missed the 10 threads about it the base game is completely free on Epic atm

I know it`s free on epic, but first: I don`t like epic, 2nd: I like to have my games in one account and 3rd: I want be able to play on my couch :)

If you want a companion then yes you will need the Blackwood chapter.
You don't actually need a companion though. There are many viable solo builds, including two classes that can summon permanent minions to fight alongside you.

If you can stretch to it, the necrom collection gives you the base game and nearly a decade of overworld content that can be done in any order, and 6 companions to choose from.

Game is only playable with a subscription, just pure tedium with bank space if you do not have the almighty "Craft Bag" unless you fancy paying the monthly fees just walk away.

I enjoy the game. I wouldn't recommend getting into it unless you're a big fan of the Elder Scrolls world/lore. Everyone's complaints about the Craft Bag are 100% valid, it's a cheap tactic by Zenimax to create a problem that they "solve" by selling the solution. The weight system in the inventory in Skyrim would've worked beautifully in ESO, yet they shirked it to make a piece of wheat weigh as much as a greatsword, thus creating the need for the Craft Bag. It's a slimy PoS tactic that we shouldn't be making excuses for, considering it was a greed-fueled alteration from the superior system in Skyrim.

Anyway, yeah, give it a try. Just don't expect the general community to be honest about how slimy the monetization really is; sunk cost fallacy, of hours of grind or many many dollars, are all that await you for pursuing that conversation with ESO players, lmao

You folks really can't grasp that not everyone thinks like you and actually likes things that you hate?

In my opinion it's worth it, but you will often feel that you are limited in certain ways if you don't own some DLCs or ESO+ membership. If you just want to play the game for yourself at your own pace and don't care about efficiency, the base version should be enough. It has a lot of content and you can always get eso+ or other extras in the future.

Base game is worth it, it has way too much content to do.

And if you ever feel like you are done with the base game then you can pay a sub for a month to see if you like the DLC/Expansion content.

The base game has a whole lot of content. Think about each alliance as it's own separate game with a full main story and side quests. Side quests are a little hit and miss, there are some typical ones, but there are also some really good ones too.

I don't think the game did that to you. It was your lack of will power.
