And which mmos is ESO competing with in this "current landscape"?
edit: typo
Seems like you want the GW2 combat. 1-1-1-1 autoattack spam to beat the "open world" bosses no one cares about.
I would love to know more on those "many" MMO's with this better combat you are playing.
I've not played many, in fact my total is only 5 mmo games and one of them was a car game of all things, rip official NFS world servers :3. Anyways out of the 4 other mmo's I've played that have combat, this game has been the best overall with it's combat.
Sure the pve is easy enough lot of the times, but at least to win a battle i don't have to spam the weapon ability what i have seen the other mmo quite bit. This game offers a bit more dynamic with it's combat. So seeing as you claim there are mmo's with even more dynamic combat gameplay then this, i am very eager to see it for myself tho i will never leave eso till i feel ready too. Please tell us those games.
Compared to most MMOs with far more set in stone skills and rotations for each class, ESO is very dynamic. Light attack weaving, bash weaving, synergy weaving, knowing what skills can be cut off short and what skills can't. Even the rotations themselves are far more interesting than most games, since they're far less set in stone.
My nightblade generally tries to keep up her buffs first, then her DoTs, then her spammables. Unless, of course, her ultimate is up, in which case my spammables and intermediate spammables are far more important than anything else. Though it's prudent to refresh my DoTs to get the best damage while my ultimate is up before I use it, depending on the kind of enemy I'm up against that might not be realistic.
And of course my grim focus spammable should always be popped if it's available over anything else, unless my ultimate is almost ready to pop because it's much more beneficial in that case and I should leave it be until I pop my ulti.
Oh, and below 25% I should probably drop a DoT or two just to spam my executable, though before we get to 25% it's prudent to refresh my buffs and DoTs to cleanly take me to the end of the fight anyways.
That's without even getting into fight mechanics and swapping skills out to bring certain utilities.
I don't think I could play any other MMO and not find it boring after ESO.
Though, ZoS generally agrees with you. They find the combat feels clunky to newer players and want to casualize it. There's been several veteran exodus' already because they're chipping away at something so dear to a lot of people.
ESO is evolved
I highly doubt you would know what a "good combat system" is from a hole in the ground.
NW combat is indeed superior to ESO in many ways, as are the graphics. But the rest of the game is so dull and empty.
Never. The game's a success, it's old and been going awhile now so there's no need. It will die this way.
very well said, completely agree
