how to enjoy the game?
okay so i bought this game thinking its a "online skyrim" obviously not , it was a disappointment for me , but i *Had * the money so i bought it , now i was looking to buy a new game but decided to give the REAL ESO a try , i honestly dont know how to have fun in it.
so far from about 4-5 hours of playing , all i was doing was quests, the quests were kinda horrible , just *go do that and report back* *go kill that and report back*.
is this game anything more than what ive stated above? im really looking to enjoy it but if its just killing quests that are literally nothing more , rip, but im sure its not.

"online skyrim" and yep, this is your first mistake, lot of people thinking this will be a "online skyrim"

isnt it just the same as skyrim quest?, fetch this, go there, here, talk to this people etc

anyway, theres lot of type of quest, from what i read, you only do the side quest then (and theres tons of them) , theres actrually guild quest (2 of them, mage and fighter), your faction main quest, and your character main quest, and like all RPG (not MMORPG) each quest of course theres kill and fetch quest, and as RPG game, try to listen and understand the lore especially this is TES lore, dont skip them up

and when you achieve lvl 10, you can join in huge campaign war in cyrodiil, 3 faction facing each other, and i suggest you to take the non-veteran campaign for now

i cant suggest you "how to enjoy" since enjoyment itself is differ from people to people, what i can suggest you is just keep playing , listen , understand and immerse in the quest, dont skip them if you really like TES lore/RPG lore in general, and this is not an SP TES, this is an MMO with TES lore in it, if you dislike MMO concept, you might be will hate this game too

Most important thing to begin enjoying the game is to quit skipping the dialogue. Speak to as many people as possible, read as many notes and books as possible, immerse yourself into the story and you might just make it.
This and also join some guilds, do group dungeons etc theres lot of stuff to do...

It depends what you like. The creators of this game designed it so that pretty much any play style can be played. Really, ANY.

- You can do quests or turn them off all together!
- You can randomly kill, rob and steal or you can do nothing but pick "flowers" and sell them through any of thousands of User Guilds.
- You can join one of the three world guilds (Fighter's, Mage's, or Undaunted) and take only their quests & challenges.
- You can choose to only craft interesting sets or armor, wepons, glyphs, or potions and sell them.
- You can just simply go fishing and do nothing but that. One acquires "Perfect Roe" from about 3 in 200 catches and those sell for about 10,000 gold in the user guilds.
- You can choose to play only in the Player vs. Player (MMO) areas and match you fighting skills with other players or groups of players.
- You can do nothing but "farm" for materials (or sky shards) which you can use to craft (level up your character), or sell in the user guilds.
- You can spend all your time in chat talking to other players in order to learn or get a sense what interests them.

Or if you're like most people you can do all of these things as your interests guide you. :)

The only tip I can offer to someone who isn't having fun in this game is maybe to drop any expectations or pre-concieved notions you have and just experience the worlds and environment as you encounter it.

One thing I personally enoyed doing in this game is getting other players to "taxi" me to much higher level maps and then sneak around (so as not to die) the various enemies in order to farm and mine the materials and sky shards. Man, it's a heart-pump as a level 5 player when you see a wanted sky shard surrounded by 6 level 40 enemies. Tactics, cunning, game-bravery, and timing all come into play. Uber-fun!

buy the Thieves Guild DLC and become Master Thief, in June/July the Dark Brotherhood is being released. This game is still in it's growing stages with much more to come. They have a 5 year plan and the 2nd year just finished April 4th. DLC every 3 months or so. Become Master Crafter, that will take a very long time.

One of the biggest sins known so far between The Elder Scrolls' players. That one after those who call the upcoming T.E.S.VI as "Skyrim 2".

If you're committing one of these mistakes... I'm afraid you're in the wrong realm and you should return to the common sense's FPS realm (aka CoD, CS:GO, ARK, H1Z1, DayZ and so on). :Smilin:

What else are they exactly supposed to do? 1 person trying to take over a castle? k. Zergs are inevitable and you can always roam.

I actually have the same problem, even with cca 90 hrs in game :-) I even left my LoTRO character die on old server because I expected this to be some successor to both this and Skyrim, but it seems I was wrong, fortunately I bought just the basic game back them, no DLCs and whatever. Ppl here are talking about the immersion, but one look on cartoonish and a little bit childish look of this game (world, characters, pets, horses, chat..) takes it all back. Also things like my very first quest, where I saved the king, got some money from him and was soo happy until I realized the basic and cheapest weapon in game costs much more than I got from him.. weird indeed. Also I never got into that guilds thing, not just because I'm more a solo player, but actually I'm finding all this extremely silly and not mature at all.

More like it don't feel like a Elder scroll game period.
Still fun and i play it but lets face it it's no elder scrolls
it's a mediacore mmorpg with a elder scroll skin

I'm going to disagree with Trigger, if you are not having fun then do NOT buy DLC, why would you do that, man. OP has already spent enough money on something they don't like, spending more on "the same thing, but different" is not going to fix that dissatisfaction.
What keeps me going in ESO is competitiveness, not with other players but with myself. I'm majorly into unlocking achievements in games and I'm pushing myself to get the ESO achievements, if only to feel like I'm not doing the same thing over and over with no real result. But I'm with you, OP, this thing is not what I was hoping for. And I did my research before I bought it, was warned that it wasn't going to be Skyrim Online, and ended up disappointed nonetheless.

To me playing ES games is all about running around exploring, killing things, reading lorebooks, finding loot, sneaking around stealing, pickpocketing, learning crafting trades (alchemy and enchanting as well). And of course there's a main story to go along with all that in the meantime.

You can do all of those things in this game. Maybe you all are getting bored with this game cause you are just quest grinding. So stop that! Just play the game like you would play Morrowwind, Oblivion or Skyrim. The Main Quest and Mages/Fighters Guild quests scale with your level so you can do those any time you wish.
