As of 12:07am, EST, I clicked "Play" in Steam, then "Play" on the launcher. Clicked several times to skip past all the stuff I don't care about, picked my character and am working on my daily crafting as of right now.

Probably your addons causing this. Remove them all, try again, add them back one at a time until you find the offender, then bother the developer of that addon to fix it.

If you have no addons, run a File Verification. This is a you problem, not a game problem.

I get this every now and then with the Steam launcher. I have had luck with shutting down Steam completely and then restarting Steam and the game. But I have had the best luck launching the game through the ESO launcher.

The game is no better without Steam. I crash every 4 minutes in the game, which is crazy. I have no add-ons and didn't start crashing until they attempted to "fix" their crashing issue.

Bizarre company that proves their incompetence daily.

You don't have ESO on this account. Maybe you are trying to play with Family Sharing? It doesn't work for TESO and game refuses to log in with this error: "unexpected internal error..."

So I cannot play ESO if it's through family sharing? Currently that is how I own the game.

No, you can't. Any game can see if it is launched by actual owner or with family sharing. And ESO refuses to work with family sharing.

(i am not sure that statement about "technical limitations" is true. But it is their right and in fact it is very common for online games.)
