Here is some aditional information about storage chests;
There are 8 collectible items available for purchase that you can place in your home that are able to contain inventory items
There are 4 large chests and 4 small coffers available
They can be purchased with master crafting writ vouchers (Writ Voucher), Tel Var Stones(Tel Var Stone), or from the Crown store
The large chests contain 60 items and the small coffers contain 30 items
There are 360 slots available in total
The chests and coffers have the same appearance, but different names
They count against the “Collectible Furnishings” count in your house
To use a storage furnishing, first travel to your home and navigate to the new Storage section of the Services category of the Housing Editor to place your collectible. Once you’ve placed a storage furnishing, you can use it at any time to deposit or withdraw items from that particular collectible. Each one has its own storage, which is separate from all other item storage.
Since these are collectibles, you can place each one in as many homes as you like, and will see the same items regardless of which home you open that particular chest or coffer in.
They are only accessible by you, they cannot be accessed by any visitors to your house
Unlike bank storage, ingredients stored in chests and coffers will not be used when crafting, and stored equipment will not appear in deconstruction, research, or upgrade windows at Crafting Stations.
You can name the containers to help with sorting items. For example you could name one container “Extra furnishings” and another container “Gear I might use someday”.
One of the storage coffers you earn via the Level Up Advisor upon reaching level 18.
Upon purchasing, they appear in your collections and can not be traded to other players
I was curious about the difference in sturdy and oaken chests, as they seem to look the same to me, but you answered it as well.
Gonna get one right away.
once again - appreciate your help!
I will just add once again, the chests are available to get with in game currency. There is no need to spend real life money on them in the crown store.
If you want to get one or two for crowns it might be fine but don't do the mistake of getting them all for crowns because later on once you find out how easy they are to earn in game for free you will regret getting them for crowns.
I've had crowns left from ESO+ sub (after years not playing, was happy to see they are still there) so I just used those. I am waiting for my friends to join but couldn't help and jumped into the game to see what's up and since I really love Morrowind and Vvardenfell, I decided to play it alone for the time being (absolutely magical - same music as from original game! :D) and lack of inventory space started driving me nuts almost immediately. I never had any homes/storage chests, and also didn't want to sub for ESO+ again, so was curious what to do. I bought 60 slots chest (for crowns) and it is enough for me now to keep my sanity at bay. I won't be buying anymore (I hope), but being low lvl I just wanted to enjoy the story, the world, and people around, rather than doing storage grind, but if I'll stick long enough I will surely look into the in-game option!
Once again, thank you for being so mindful - appreciate that!
Another thing - grateful to ESO community for being new player-friendly, which I was doubting at first. First, got immediate response to my rather silly question here, and then during the Halloween boss fight I got invited into a group (without even asking in chat), which helped me to complete the quest (and defeat the boss). You love to see it. Great community!
It was an excellent answer. I didn't ask whether I should or should not be buying chests for crowns, but rather on accessibility of aforementioned chests among all my chars, old and new. The very first line explained exactly this. The best answer is the one that goes straight to the point of your question, without tiptoeing around for hours.
Followed detailed explanation of how chests/inventory work, with tips on how to get a free (in-game currency) ones was just a cherry on top of a cake. I appreciated it alot.
Now, is getting storage items is the best way to spend your crowns? Probably not. Most likely not. It is was convenient for me, however, so instead if spending my time on grinding materials and doing writs, while still having inventory problems, I can focus on activities I like and enjoy: Morrowind (and eventually Argonians) questline. If I will stick long enough - and my friends will join me - I most likely will be investing in crafting/housing.
For now, just fun. :D
Thank you all once again!
This way you get a bag with unlimited (!) space for all your mats which will free up your bag, bank space and chests!
Also you get Crowns for each subbed month (btw. cheaper then straight buying them...) with which you could buy chests or inventory pets that increase your inventory capacity further. Also assistants might be helpful. Or just save them up for your housing plans.
Further you get access to all DLCs (except the newest chapter) while you are subbed on top of stuff like 10% gold and XP gain.
Oh yes, as I mentioned in previous post, I had ESO+ for some time and the crowns I used for buying storage chest are actually leftovers from the time when I wasn't playing but my subscription was still running (not smart, I know). It is quite useful and I checked my crafting bag recently, and oh boy, there are tons of mats I used to gather. The sub is probably the most useful/efficient way to spend your money, I agree and you listed all the great benefits, but I will hold on with that and see if I will stick to the game long enough to justify it. I am enjoying it so far, but knowing myself I can quit again tomorrow and never play the game for eternity. I played with a friend yesterday and it was great - definitely what I will be enjoying the most.
I also have some DLC's and expansions, as I used to buy them all (and never really play -_-) so I have lots of content and all the available classes for now, without ESO+, but that's definitely something to have in mind, long term-wise.
Thank you for heads up, Thomas, appreciate it!
