deconstructing/researching chest armor?

how do i do this, it wont let me at teh clothjign station even though one is intricate and one had a magnifying glass by it

Intricate items can only be deconstructed. Light and Medium armour at a Clothing station, Heavy armour and most weapons at a Blacksmithing station, shields, staves and bows at a Woodworking station, rings and necklaces at a Jewellery station (given that you have Summerset).

The items with a magnifying glass next to them indeed have a trait you don't know yet. The above applies to research too.

Make sure you are at the correct station and you have selected the correct submenu.
