You don't need to belong to any trade guild to buy from them. otherwise the system would be severely flawed. You can buy from any trade guild at will. To sell stuff in ESO you can either belong to a trade guild to post your stuff like you do at an auction house or do direct trade w other players.
The trade system in ESO is pretty unique. Yes, it's fragmented, but that also means that the market is more dynamic. You can find really good deals on items if you look at less frequented traders.
As a newbie, try to find a guild that has a consistent trader and doesn't charge a weekly fee or have any steep requirements. If you're not going to sell much, there are many casual traders like this that are suited for players like yourself. Check out the Guild Finder in-game and you'll find one for you.
Two completely different games, and also not true. It's entirely possible to play ESO and pay no more than the price of entry for the Chapter bundle. You can get all DLCs in game at no additional cost from the crown store using Gold4Crown traders.
Further more, even without the dlcs there are hundreds of hours of content. And im not even mentioning the infinitely repeatable dungeons and pvp areas wich with each offer a few more hundreds of hours.
You will literally get bored of the game before you feel the need to spend money in it. (unless you desire cosmetics obviously. in wich case, th best ones are on the crown store. but as mentioned above, you ca ntrade gold for crowns)
I use it to get deals on rare crafting ingredients and trait stuff really very helpful.
