Necromancers aren't necromancers
In the trailer it shows a necromancer surrounded by skeletons as it talks about the new necromancer class. In truth there is only one skeleton you can summon and it only stays around for 16 seconds and acts more like a turret than a minion.

In TES games necromancers have always been around ice and summoning magic. In this game you throw bones at people and do a bunch of other bs that necromancers don't do.

Why isn't there a spec to be a undead pet class? Did the devs just forget what the hell a necromancer is? Pretty much every type of necromancer in any form of media has been around making and controlling undead monsters yet you THROW BONES AND HEAL PEOPLE!

How would I do the class? You summon a skeleton mage/warrior and when you use your abilities they do them for you. You control your mage/warrior skeletons to smash and cast spells. Instead... you throw bones... How is this alright?

for variety, there’s already a pet class

i think the issue is having the sorc with his pets and the warden with his pet....which made them believe they had to go a different route with the nec.
tbh. i think both the warden and the necro need a rework in design and mechanics (and i main warden and love the class).

Well I mean not to mention the necromancers in all the other TES games have been traditional necromancers, I'm not really sure where they were going with this class either. They could've done something along the lines of the "Bone Dancers" in DAoC where you summoned a group of skeletons to support you. They could've done this their own way, the combination of undead pets that are summoned could be the main focus of the class and the overall objective of the character could just be to keep those pets up and buffed throughout the fight then adapting that to healing, tanking, and dps.

Its almost like the skeletons and bones were an afterthought lol

Does not matter what they do some people will be happy others not. I chose to play the game and have fun. Of course it would be fun to have a skeleton pet or a little army as in DAOC. But they already had to pet classes so they decided to go a different way.

Yeah, I have to say that although I am finding the class rather fun to play it's not what I'd call a Necromancer at all. Doing Halloween parlor tricks isn't what a Necro should ever be and that is what this class is in a nutshell.

First off a Necro should be a straight up pet class. They should be able to summon at least one undead minion that follows them. Also the powers of the Necro should be all about sapping the life energies out of mobs with lots of DOT effects and direct lifetap type spells. They have some of that but it almost seems like an afterthought instead of the main focus of the class.

As I said before I am enjoying the class so far but I wouldn't have sold it as a Necromancer Class. It's more of a Witch Doctor type class than a Necromancer.

They should've just made it similar to WoW's death knight. It's clear that is the direction they were going anyways, so they could've just done the minion thing you mentioned that way. I don't think anyone would be upset by that

Think about this - if you had a undead pet following you around and you entered a city, you would have bounties like there was no tomorrow and no gold to your name. Reason - certain moves from the class are crimes if used in cites.

Say the skill tree revolves around having the pets out in order to do any other ability (Because the pet casts the spell, not you), than this problem would be solved simply by putting your pets away. Obviously, other skill trees such as one-handed, two-handed etc would not be affected by the pets being out or not.

At the same time, i can understand not doing that, as that is quite a bit more complex than the average player would enjoy. That being said, a necromancer usually implies being able to raise the dead and use them to fight for you. Of course, that's not going to stop me from playing necromancer. Just my opinion.

It's because having too much characters on your screen will make PVP in Cyradil a nightmare!

They should've made a dragonborn class with shouts and stuff haha :D

Having another pet class would be redundant with sorcerer and warden already being in the game. I wish they would increase the duration of the necro summons but stil, it makes for a much more active class since you have to recast the summons more frequently (something I personally like).

Having the necro control a small army would be a nightmare to balance. Not only the performance but also the AI, what abilities they would have and the balance in PvP. With how the targeting works, half the time you wouldn't be able to hit the necro.

You stil have 3 summon pets with the blastbones, skeleton arcanist and spirit mender, some or all of whom are used on necromancer builds.

You also have the gargantuan ultimate as another arguable summon, you can turn yourself into a bone giant and resurrect dead teammates.

You suck the life force from recently dead corpses and enemies with various abilities, either harming enemies or healing/restoring yourself and teammates.

I will admit that I wish some of the abilities could be more useful or different, especially the scythe. But I can't really understand where you're getting the impression that necro doesn't summon the dead.

Listen dude. You have no brain if you consider blast bones a pet. IT's literally just a fireball in the shape of a skeleton :/
