Can you earn crowns in game?
I only have the base game and was wondering if crowns can be traded from other players?

Think its somewhere around 300-200g per crown.

Do people actually do that deal? Also does it work like trading a normal piece of gear?

Ppl do it all the time. It is not like trading normal gear though, one of you needs to do a leap of faith, and give either the gold or the crowns first. If you get burned, ZOS has issued a statement saying to take a screenshot and they will investigate and make it right. They have logs of everything from your chat box, so they can see exactly what happened.

It is not like anyone can transfer their Crowns to you directly, mind you.

They can only buy certain things in the Crown Store as gifts and send them to you. This means that you cannot get houses and maybe some other things that are non-giftable this way.
