Your favorite solo class
Yo,
i'm still new to the game and i play a magicka necro, but i recently realized that it might not be the best choice for a solo pve character.
In your opinion, what is the best solo pve class ?
thanks

magblade, magcro, stamden (and i'm exclusively solo after greymoor).

necromacer has insane healing -> ghost + healing tether - you can literally stay in most of the bosses red circles, put on top of it good aoe and pale order ring and it becomes pretty good tanky-dps.

put some time to experiment with different classes and choose what fits you best, after that start reading guides... (around lvl 35 - 40 all feel squishy as there is not enough skill points to compensate scaling).

what dps skills do you use with the necro ? I feel like something is missing in my rotation, like a weapon skill or something.

it is what i find good for myself, haven't checked recently but most likely is far from meta guides

crushing shock(destro - main spammable), mystic siphon(or mystic orb), storm pulsar(destro) + unnerving boneyard - mobs, harness magica, shooting star.

stalking blastbones, unstable wall of storms, braided tether, degeneration(or sceleton arcanist), spirit guardian, ravenous goliath(or undo).

lightning nirnhoned mechanical acuity with shock
lightning maelstorn infused with weapon damage

Noble Duelist (preferably close combat) + Mechanical Acuity (may change body to heavy or medium depending on situation).
molag kena's shoulders (may change also to heavy) (because weapon and spell damage there are couple similar)
pale order + acuity - 2 bloodthirsty, 1 infused + spell damage.

wichmother's potent brew (or artaeum pickled fish bowl; i'm lazy to fish for roe and clockwork food)
if with degeneration - daily tristat potions, if no spell power.

didn't put effort to optimize after last patch as i haven't went to solo vet or dlc and it still works fine on normal dungeons and bosses...

Edit: and light attacks minimum after main spammable, preferably close because of ND...

any class can be the best choice, what matters is what you think is the cooler one.

If you ask for class for solo dungeons and solo arenas, then mag sorcerer is best. Look at leaderboards of solo arenas and you will see.
For overland is good any DD with some selfheal.

The best is the one you like to play (which may be different from the most efficient).
I'm using mostly magsorc. I like necro for the versability since you can easily switch your playstile.
I try the stam nightblade but I took no pleasure to play it.

nightblade no doubt

invis allows you to completely skip trash fights

Magicka Sorc,magicka Templar,Stamina Necromancer.

I would say Magicka Sorcerer, because of Pets (Stamina Sorcerer is fine too but needs more experience).
  • They do passively damage even if you get stunned or as additional damage on top of your without the necessity to recast. See it as free Dot which easen your rotation.
  • 2 Morphs of your pets (clannfear and matriarch) can heal you and one of them (matriarch) is the strongest burst heal in the game, while still being free passive damage.
  • Pets can take agro and tank for you (especially the clannfear). But this wont work in group content.
  • They increase your health by 8% and your health and stamina recovery additionaly.
Further more you have a great shield (which also shields your pets) and critical surge which will heal you while you attack, especially if you do so with your strongest damage skill (crystal shard), which additionally heals you (blood magic).

Wouldnt say that it is the strongest class for soloing (but it is for sure not weak) but its also a straight forward and easy class for soloing.

Second best choice is Magicka Templar (Stamina can be difficult for soloing):
Just one single skill explains everything: Puncturing Sweep. Strong as in really strong (the strongest spammable in the game, not considering stuff like shalks and blastbones, which arent really spammables). A great AOE spammable and a great self heal. Also it snares the enemey and has a little bit higher range than melee, so that it is basically possible to jab enemies down without taking damage and healing yourself if you even take damage.

The templar has also several other nice stuff but its just this single skill that makes it a good and not to difficult for soloing.

Warden (Magicka, Stamina, Hybrid)
Good damage, good sustain, a pet, selfheal, great self buff capabilities, it jus has anything. You can build in anything you want and be strong. Also it is prety straigth forward.

Other classes:
They can be used for soloing stuff too and if done so by an experienced player they can even be strong in soloing but they are lacking something (for example healing and sustain) or are just more difficult to play and not that straight forward, especially for soloing. Best is, you take one of the other 3 classes if you want an easy solo class.
