Yup. Even non-MMORPGs have this issue. Overwatch, Call of Duty, etc. I remember a huge ban wave back in my runescape days that caught a bunch of innocent players too.
Banning of innocent people occurs frequently in "Games as a Service" in general.
Add the infamous case of Warframe: DE never learned (or just don't care) how to deter injection of fake platinum (their prime currency, that can be traded or purchased). All they do is detect fake plat by audits and trace it back to the 1st person who used it, then ban everyone as guilty of posses something that can't be analyzed in game by players to determine if is legit or not. They presume everyone in the chain of distribution knew and conspired to inject and use it, when the difference between legit or not is the source, which only DE can detect, not even the ones who inject it can afaik.
That's how they lost many innocent players, and they don't care cuz they extortion players to pay to recover their account (if their plat balance falls in negative). They pretend that the affected account owners pay someone else's bill. I wonder if it works considering the large grind this game expedites and how attached people get to it (it's in general a game w unexploited potential that keeps people in w the hopes on a future that still not come).
If their previous or current owners or their devs are ones to blame doesn't make difference in the fact that they rob time and money from innocent players for not managing their service the way they should.
It seems odd for you to necro a thread that was over a year old, only to not explain why you did what caused you to get banned.
A quick google search only reveals a bunch of companies under that name.
Good times. Glad to see my original statements about ZoS are still true.
Oh, also throwback to the time richard's wife wished someone would have an autistic child as a punishment. On stream.
Oh please, you can get banned for anything and they don't always list the reason.
For example, there was zero reference to a rule why I was permabanned besides "we can ban you for anything at our discretion". I lol'd because I knew I made someone higher up in ZOS angry, it left me quite satisfied.
I am "Black" and think its stupid to ban people over such names, as there are many words in other languages that have a similar spelling to you-know-what, and foaming at the mouth over a word and punishing people that may not even be aware of how they break the rules is really stupid. But hey, that's the PC and snowflake world for you...
Unless you're a content creator or stream team member, then you get special treatment. I've seen several with names that break their own ToS but they turn a blind eye then.

The mental gymnastics some fans have for this game...
Remember that time they brushed off PvP issues for 3 years and then had one of their streams raided by people constantly asking about what they intended to do?
So they banned the word PvP from all their streams at the time? Lmaoo.
I'm still personally shocked some autism support group hasn't flamed the everliving hell outta richard and his wife. They legitimately went off on autism during a live stream and nothing happened.
He wasn't exploiting, he was just being 'creative!'
