Combat Metrics to have logs for fights
Lazy Writ - will craft in automated mode from available mats
Mods for alchemy and cooking to track which recipes your current char or other chars know, suggestions for better potions with triple effects.
Map Pins to have more accurate map with all quest pointers, skyshards visible
you should ask yourself what you want to improve in your game and if there's a mod. everyone uses different mods. traders might as well use trading mods, people who fail to hit their targets properly in given time can use mod that reminds them to hit, RPers will use mods for chat, automated outfit changer etc.
Minion - the simplest way of finding and downloading adds
Lazy writ crafter - especially if you've got more than one char
Mini map - I have a lousy sense of direction so it's a game changer for me
Lore Book finder - impossible without it.
Skyshard locator - I quite like trying to solve the puzzles to find them, but it gets stale after the first couple of chars
Quickslot addon - so you can bind your quickslot to a keyboard key and you can change what your Q button gives you at the touch of a button.
If you're in a trade guild, some kind of Trading tool that will give you an estimate of the price to charge for stuff. Tamriel Trade centre is good - but I found unreliable. I use TTC as a stand alone download to my desktop and use Aetherius Trade Centre in game.
On the actual game settings in the control panel I go to combat and turn on the settings to show buffs and spells you cast - this gives you a countdown clock which helps you with your rotation, reminding you when to recast.
I also tick the box that stops you accidentally attacking an NPC and getting a bounty.
Currently i use only Action Duration, Alpha Gear and Lost Treasure. But you might consider few other addons that makes sense for you.
once when I started to play the game I went to forums to ask if common archer can one hit kill you with 16500 points of damage and that's where people got really toxic with their "git gud" and other trolling. But no one actually answered the initial question. Then I installed this addon and I can see damage dealt, damage received or full log. I believe this mod is important for new players to learn about enemies and their attacks, what to expect from them.
The question was answered multiple times, you just refused to take the answer. If you really, really want to bring up your old thread again, I would suggest re-reading it first to refresh your memory.
There's a difference between "people being toxic" and "people telling me an inconvenient truth that I do not want to hear". Your statements in that thread made very obvious that your understanding of the mechanics was lacking at that point - you claimed to have been "one-shot" when you actually got killed by standing in an AoE DoT for long enough to getting hit lots of times. So people tried to explain that to you (which I would call "useful information" rather than "toxic"). At which point you got all defensive, went on a weird tangent about what a great player you were in TES3 (as if that had any relation to your knowledge of ESO mechanics), criticized the game for killing you with a simple NPC, and generally refused to take advice.
The claim that you tried to defend throughout that thread ("No enemy should be able to kill me with a single skill (even it's an AoE DoT that I keep standing in)") still makes no sense to me at all; with this logic, enemy AoEs would be pointless as a game mechanic.
Good to see that you found an addon that apparently helps you improve. It definitely does provide a lot of useful information. I most probably _would_ have recommended it to you in your original thread already, if the topic had been "how can I get more information about combat events" rather than "No enemy should kill me with a single AoE skill I keep standing in, I was such a good player in TES3".
- BeamMeUp: Lets you teleport quickly to any zone that any member of any of your guilds is currently in. Amazing time saver since I can usually teleport from any dungeon, delve, treasure location, etc. directly to where I want to go next. Also very useful for getting around with an alt character that hasn't discovered many wayshrines yet.
- Personal Assistant V2: A suit of fully configurable convenience features that let you automate transactions with your banker, with merchants, and more. Automatically sells (or destroys) everything I declared to be junk, automatically makes sure that all my characters have 150 soul gems, 150 lockpicks, and their food and drink - all that is done with a single click on a banker, which also automatically puts everything into the bank that I want to be stored there. With customizable profiles, you can set your characters up to e.g. stash all surveys in the bank, except one alt that takes them into their inventory. And you can do the same for writs, motifs, recipes, AvA items, and practically anything else.
- Auto Category: Groups your inventory into collapsable sections for e.g. "New stuff", "Still tradeable dungeon gear", "Bind on equip", one section for each set, etc. Fully configurable if you take the time to dive deeper into it.
- CraftStore: Extensive mod that tracks trait research (and more) across multiple characters. Great for planning and keeping an overview.
- Extended Journal: This is a group of 4 mods that track information throughout your account. It's very useful to track which set items, motifs, recipes, furniture plans, or collectibles I'm still missing.
- Notebook 2018: A nifty little addon that lets you type anything you want (including chat links) into your own notebook. I mainly use this to maintain ToDo lists for my characters, and note down things I don't want to forget. I could just alt-tab out of the game and use Notepad of course, but it's nice to be able to stay in the game while taking notes.
- Urich's Skill Point Finder: Tracks which skill points you already collected on your character, and where the ones are that you haven't. Very useful if you quickly need a few skill points on a character.
- Votan's Keybinder: The first addon I ever installed, and I'm still using it. :) Lets you define keybinds globally so that you don't have to re-enter them each time you start a new character.
great to see it quoted. now everyone can see for themselves how you guys troll and annoy people who just want to get answers to simple questions. worse community I ever saw. I regret wasting so much time replying to your nonsense. Won't do that again that's for sure.
Sure if someone asks how enemies can deal X amount of damage to you you can't imagine it's the right time to recommend Combat Metrics so person can see for themselves how it happens. Instead you blame person for being bad player. That's why I call you annoying trolls.
If anyone want to get any help they should ask in their guild chat, saves time and good mood.
Because as far as I can see, your question was:
The screenshot showed that you actually weren't one-shot, but stood for several seconds in an AoE DoT. Which was explained in several replies. You also received several suggestions on how to play better (dodge out of the AoE, use damage mitigation skills, apply different tactics, etc.), which you all rejected:
So I sat down and explained to you why it's usually not considered a problem when "nameless" enemies have AoE DoTs that _can_ kill you if you don't get out of them:
To which you never replied, except that you now, 5 months later, still complain that your question was not answered.
So, let's put this thing to rest. What _exactly_ was the question that you "got not answered" by this "worse community I ever saw"? Let's answer it now then. :)
Well, the information was already in the death recap in your screenshot. You stood in an enemy AoE DoT for several seconds. You don't need Combat Metrics for that.
If you had indicated that you wanted _more_ information from the combat report, then I'm pretty sure someone would have brought up Combat Metrics, given how popular it is. Also Improved Death Recap specifically if you're interested in finding out what exactly kills you.
However, what you actually said, was that these details do not matter to you:
So why would we recommend an addon that provides combat details to someone who literally said that those details do not matter to them, and mainly focuses on complaining that the damage was "too much"? That's not something that Combat Metrics can address.
But, once again: what _exactly_ was the question you wanted answered? We can still do it now, if it's that important to you. :)
i should mention that i use only few addons because i already have all skillpoints on my main, skyshards, all solo and group pve quests done, and everything crafting wise researched, i have most of motifs learned, so i just dont need all that sutff. but it does sound good ;D!
now pretty much only thing left im doing is some fishing, but this addon with crafting nodes does not work for me because it marks fishing spots with same color, and you have to manually recolor them for future reference. but thats just too much work. seems like going on that fishin in tamriel website works faster. and i dont have another addon on my list :D so i wouldnt recommend addons with gathering nodes for fishing purpose. but for running around and collecting any nodes it might be cool.
i tested once addon with treasure chests locations, but that saves them only after you actually found the chest while having the addon, and from those chests outside of deshan and some other maps there is nothing worth time to do it. Sadly ancestral reach research locations cant be found from chests in skyrim so there is very little use for long term players to run after chests.
that condescending attitude again. do you really think I "want" to discuss anything with you after all you "help"?
My initial question was "how is it possible for NPC to deal this huge amount of damage". and it was partly answered by someone in the last posts (double volley). then all I had to do is to install combat metrics, engage with enemy archer and check log for distributed damage. now I have my full answer.
And the funny thing is ... you are looking down on an _entire_ community of players ("worse community I ever seen"), yet accuse others of a condescending attitude.
Regarding the question whether you "want" to discuss this - you clearly do. I mean, no one is forcing you to reply. You're participating in this discussion out of your own volition.
Well. It's nice to see that you now realize that your question _was_ answered. I don't really see what info you think was missing (it was clear from your screenshot that you got killed by Volley and it was referenced multiple times, volley does 8 hits per attack, you took 11, so obviously there must have been at least two volleys), but given that even a partial answer _is_ an answer, it's good to see that you're revoking your previous statement of "no one answered my initial question".
Have fun. :)
I'm not revoking my previous statement. none of you trolls and "git gud" people had anything to do with answering my initial question. only few people on last pages of the thread took the question seriously and answered it. But before I had their answer I had to endure your trolling and completely uncalled lecturing on my capabilities as a player. you guys sure enjoyed yourself. being defensive is a result of being assaulted with uncalled critique for unrelated things, don't you think. I regret wasting my time and trying to reply to all that nonsense. Yes, people who usually dwells on this forum are the worst community one can see.
Apart from that, you're getting unnecessarily defensive once again.
You stood in an AoE DoT for several seconds and then complained about the amount of damage you took. People made suggestions on how to prevent that (dodging out of it, using mitigation skills, using different combat tactics, etc.).
Instead of understanding that people were trying to help you, you rejected all suggestions as "git gud showoffs", accused people of "trolling", and seriously argued that because you were a good TES3 player, you "know what game difficulty is" and that the fight had been too hard.
And then you look down on the entire community of ESO players while accusing others of "condescension".
I'm sorry, but you are creating these problems for yourself. This is a pretty helpful community - multiple questions are asked on these forums each day, and are answered to the person's satisfaction. We tried to help you too. That you see that as an "attack" and as "trolling", and that this hurt you so much that you even bring it into an unrelated thread 5 months later, is almost tragic.
I mean, just check the currently active threads. People are asking for advice on mechanics, playstyle, or purchase options, and get the info they want very quickly. Others discuss upcoming (or wanted) changes to the game in a friendly and respectful manner. There's just this one thread where one guy keeps harping on about how absolutely terrible this community is because they dared to give him advice about avoiding unnecessary deaths in December 2020. Oh well. ;)
