Will the Companion system be in the base game?

I'm really excited but not at the point to by this latest expansion but I'm really interested in the companion system and wondering if it will be updated in the base game or will it be locked behind purchasing Blackwood. Just curious, thank you.

False. The only way around this is if you buy crowns with gold but then someone has to buy the crowns.
