"Upgrade" or the BW Collector's Edition"?
I've seen some reviews about the "Upgrade" expansion isn't the entire game, or missing chapters, areas. Is the Collector's Edition the one that gives the entire expansion created to date? LoL >.< I don't know how to word this, I'm sorry. It sounds like the "Upgrade" version isn't the complete expansion?

Thank you in advance. :claptrap: :lunar2019piginablanket: :spacehamster:

Do you own the old expansions/chapters? Like Elswyr, summerset,morrowind,greymoor etc?

If you do, buy the upgrade, because you own all that.

If you ONLY have the basegame, and cant do the elswyr, greymoor, summerset stuff etc, then get the other edition and NOT the upgrade.

Yah I own all the other expansions except BW, at this point.

Simply buy the BW update, as i did.

Those people leaving those reviews didnt own any of the above and thought by just buying the upgrade (because its cheaper) that they would get all the other stuff, and thats because ZOS even on the upgrade description says so but its not true. So thats partially zos fault

You own all the mainline expansions, all you need is the BW upgrade. ZOS has a long history of bad product descriptions

Loosely, what we call Chapters = Expansions, if it helps you wrap you head around the concept.

The Upgrade/ Upgrade Collector's Edition only gives you the latest Chapter, and the Collector's Edition item if you buy CE.

Older Chapters are removed from the store front and sold as "(Chapter) DLC" in the in-game Crown Store. You can buy the older Chapters in a bundle with the latest Chapter, for a heftier price.

On Steam, it's called "Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood", and below the option it will say "Comes with Morrowind, Summerset... Chapters". That one is the version that includes the older Chapters, with its respective Chapter rewards (classes, etc), sans pre-order stuff.

On the official ESO site, this same bundle is referred to as "Collection". Note that it is still different from CE (Collector's Edition).

From what you said, you might have heard something like this:

Since Elsweyr, they've been running year long themes based around the upcoming Chapter.

Typically, in a full year, they have four releases each quarter tied to the theme.

Q1 = Dungeon DLC
Q2 = Chapter itself (though usually available for preorder earlier)
Q3 = Dungeon DLC
Q4 = Secondary zone.

You usually have to buy the dungeons and second zone separately. Hopefully that answers what doubts you might have heard "incomplete chapter, expansion, etc".

Hmm, so with Elsweyr, I purchased it when it was available for pre-order, and I think I was able to do the dungeons and some other content, because I'm a subscriber.

I can't remember if we had to purchase the secondary zone for that? It's been a while! LoL >,<"

The reviews for the game seem confusing to me, they say the entire expansion isn't available in the 'upgrade' version and to get a different version instead. I have no idea what they are talking about. I understand the second half of the chapters/game may not be available yet. I wonder what people were referring to, in reviews?

I understand what you mean here by the 4 Quarter release dates, I've seen that in game before.

I drifted away from the game for a spell, but I still love it and hoping to return soon.

One of the reviews states

"The Blackwood Upgrade is not the same as purchasing the Blackwood Edition of the game.
..one would think that the extra cost of the latter was because it included the base game, already paid for. ... you get the Blackwood Chapter if you get that upgrade, whereas the Blackwood Edition comes with multiple other chapters (i.e. the ones I was actually interested in). ... those chapters aren't available elsewhere in the Steam store (which would have made it clearer what I'd have to do to get them); instead, you have to go through the ESO Crown store, which is overpriced.

This is what got me kinda confused. No offense meant to reviewer. I'm tryin to figure what I need to buy to play the new stuff.

(I already own Summerset, Elsweyr, somethin w/vampires. (took a break/ lol) )

So if a person buys the base game, and then the Blackwood not-upgrade that has all the previous chapters, and then subscribes, what content *don't* they still have access to? Like, zones/classes/races/dungeons, not cosmetics or that sort of thing.

Like it looks like there's an Imperial one that lets you play Imperial characters, but I don't think? that comes with the sub. Is there a list of those things? I'm not complaining! I just want to make sure I know what all I need to get to have "everything".

It's like what I mentioned.

There's 2 versions available:
- One that gives you only Blackwood (the Upgrade)
- One that gives you Blackwood and previous Chapters

Usually, they mistake the "Upgrade" as the one with the old Chapters. Admittedly, the distinction isn't very obvious on the Steam store. One should read it carefully.

On the ESO site, there's a very helpful chart that shows what you're getting with a particular version.

If a newbie clicks the "upgrade" version, the description right there says it includes the stuff, ZOS has done this before im not sure why they leave these descriptions in, for years. So if a person reads the immediate description, thats the impression they get, i cant get mad at the customer for that.

So, on the ESO site ( https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/joinus ), you have 4 different options: Collection CE, Collection, Collector's Edition Upgrade, and Upgrade.

Each one you click replaces the description with the appropriate one. "Collection" obviously displays that it comes with 'All Chapters', and they even list down the Chapters included.

If you scroll all the way down, there's even a handy comparison table that shows you the difference between those 4 options (+ 1 more for the Standard option), and the "Buy Now" is also found in the chart.

"Upgrade" and "Collector's Edition Upgrade" doesn't list any of the older Chapters at all.
It's very clearly seen on the respective product pages:

https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store/product/eso_blackwood_upgrade
https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store/product/eso_blackwood_upgrade_ce
https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/store/product/eso_blackwood_edition

The part where Steam store page for ESO is lacking, I feel, is that there isn't respective pages for the product description. There's no table where new players can refer to. You get one store page for the base game, and one store page with all the Chapter versions with only a short description each with their "Add to Cart option".

The problem lies, at the bottom of the Chapter page on the Steam store, is that the description below refers to "Collection", but it's not named as such on Steam (as seen in the description at the bottom : "The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Blackwood is the ultimate Elder Scrolls experience and includes the Base Game and all Chapters: "). It also doesn't help matters that from the page of the base game, the DLCs shown is "ESO Blackwood" which refers to the "Collection" and referred to as such, with no mention of the "Upgrade", but in the actual page, the options doesn't reflect "Collection".

They used to have a table there some time back during a preorder period, but I have no idea why they decided to remove it altogether.

It's the imperial race only that's not available. WIth ESO+ you get all previous chapters, and if you buy the blackwood chapter with an active sub you'll have access to all content, except the imperial race

The "Digital Imperial Edition" is the one that gives you the Imperial race, and I believe a chunk of land for pvp. Lots of quests and interesting things there. I have this one.

I found it on ESO's website: https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/crownstore/item/37

I hope it's ok to post that. @_@ I think I got this for sale, in the game. Imperials' perk is more gold on mob drops? Something. :spacehamster:
