The Elder Scrolls Online

Does it still download/install twice?
Hi all,
I just purchased the base game and started downloading it a few hours ago. However, I've since seen all these scare stories about how people cannot log in-via Steam. This, plus the fact that I've read that it may install itself TWICE on the hard drive, leads me to have doubts whether it's worth carrying on. I really want to give it a try though.

I've noticed that you can buy the base game at the ESO site for the same price (£7.50). To save all the hassle - not to say the huge amount of time that I could be wasting - I'm thinking of stopping the download, refunding the game and buying it through the ESO store instead. (I've never refunded a single one of my 1460 games thus far.)
1) Does this game still download itself twice?
2) Should I just take the risk and see if it works or should I go the ESO Store option instead?
3) Should I just stick to GW2?

I bought mine couple weeks ago, few hours of download, to get now downloading updates once it installed, the updates were bigger than the original and took longer, and it consistently has issue with logging in. Server time out Steam/North America.
Telling anyone who will listen.
Dont buy Elder Scrolls Online from Steam. Buy direct. Most of my Steam experience has been good, this not so much.

Nothing to do with Steam, it's just a launcher, doesn't do much.

No, it just gives you your sole means of logging onto the game if you purchased it through Steam after 2016.

To answer the OP: Mine didn’t install twice through Steam, but I know others to whom that happened. I would definitely not purchase through Steam, again, but would recommend purchasing direct.

Requires around 100gb to install and around 76gb after installation is finished. Steam downloads that 76gb, then launcher installas the game needing that 100gb space and after its done it is around 76gb

Well I finished downloading 74,1GB today, and it didn't even let me click the "Play" button, instead, Steam started Pre-assign another 74,1GB for download.
(Looked around in the Zenimax folder, seems like instead of "Pre-assigning" the game, it just deleted all that I downloaded and started again)
I'll try rredownloading, but if it happens again I'll refund and f*ck the game.
