- class abilities ussually start off using magicka to cast & scale damage, but can be morphed sometimes to scale with stamina instead
- stamina-type weapons use stamina to scale damage for abilities from their skilltree & normal attacks
- magicka-type weps use magicka to scale dmg for abilities from their tree & normals
- wherever it says "spell damage" this refers to normal-attack damage with magicka weapons and a modifier that adds damage to magicka abilities
- "weapon damage" refers to normal-attack damage with stamina weapons and modifier to add damage to stamina abilities
...hope that helps,
just stack all on one attribute for the main weapon damage you use, and forget health attribute and the other, keep them 0
p.s. once you get past level 50 you will begin earning champion points which are like extra levels that give special "attribute" points to assign to a special tree and apply to ALL CHARACTERS account-wide, including new ones you make at level 1... so starting new characters later may be much easier
asdfwasdf has added some nice info I just also want to share that if you share what your current build is we might be able to help you better.
First we need to know what build type your wanting to be,DPS,TANK,HEALER,STAM those aren't all but cover the most popular so if you want a different type by all means share.

Those sites IMO are the best for build guides,in the end it's best to try several different builds and see what one works best for you as you won't know until you try.I tend to better better with my TANK and my Hybrid Healer/Tank Warden.I made pretty much 1 of each popular build style with a couple mixed options before I found this out.Keep in mind I tend to mostly solo so while neither of my builds melt enemies I generally solo most things without issue other then group stuff.
One more thing sustains IMO is the most important aspect to learn along with bar swapping. You can have a build that does the best DPS in game but if you can't bar swap worth a damn or keep up with your sustains you will struggle.A practice dummy can really help with how much DPS you do and other mods can help with your sustains info.
