That's like comparing bike and car...
Both have their +/- but are two different things.
ESO is MMORPG with focus on solo play, but still is MMO in core, while Skyrim is single player RPG.
While ZOS IS trying to sell some parts of ESO as Skyrim 2, those two games are completely different, as I've already said.
The fighting systems are completly different. And the questing is completly different (to me)
In Skyrim you talk to a random dude in a tavern, end in a drinking contest that takes you on a wild run.
While ESO quests are nicely written but they are always "Quest is right here, wohooo, over here, go to giant marker."
I don't really feel the need to talk to NPC's that much. But both are worth playing.
Just my opinion of course I am sure many people will disagree.
Even the worlds they depict are different in each game. They may have similar location names, but the two world maps are very different. Skyrim is also truly open-world, where ESO is not.
Wow someone thinking Oblivion is better than Skyrim? Thats very rare.
Yeah, New Vegas craps on almost every Elder Scrolls game.
For general gameplay:
If you want to stay busy by rolling from quest to quest (with a decent storyline), where you have mostly shallow exploration, go with ESO.
If you like chill open exploration throughout wide tundras and dungeon spelunking, and also don't want to deal with other people, or just want to be alone, go with Skyrim.
Skyrim is also far simpler when it comes to gameplay. It's pretty much just standard FPS type controls that gets the job done. ESO has more complex mechanics (relatively). If you don't want to deal with the standard MMO mechanics, that's another reason to avoid ESO and go with Skyrim.
As far as Oblivion vs Skyrim goes, if Oblivion didn't have that godawful leveling system, I would pick it over Skyrim every time. It does a much better job with quests and storyline. Both have great exploration.
From what I understand, there's a mod that makes Oblivion's system work just like Skyrim's skill system. I never tried it. If that's the case, I'd definitely go with Oblivion. It's superior across the board, imo.
I'm not trying to say Skyrim is bad. I love me some Skyrim as well, I just prefer Oblivion (minus the leveling system cancer).
