A question about Plus Membership (Do I need it)
Hi. I am looking to "maybe" get into The Elder Scrolls Online.
And I want to play it a lot, if I do.
My question is:

If I get/buy this: "The Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood." From the Steam Store.
(Includes The Elder Scrolls Online base game, Blackwood, Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset, and Morrowind Chapters.)

What do I really get/need from the Plus Membership?
Do I need it, or do you think I need the membership, to enjoy the game?
Just trying to figure out what I need to enjoy the game to max :lunar2019coolpig:

Thanks for any help! :winter2019happybulb:

With Plus Membership, you can play every dlc and every chapters except the last one (Blackwood).(chapters are expansions the ones that you will get if you buy the version that you are planning to buy, dlcs are dungeons or new zones that you can only buy on the crown store)
You get 1650 crowns. (this way you can buy the dlcs that you don't have and you liked)
You get the craft bag (which make the game way more comfortable to play but you ""don't need it"" if you only upgrade your bag and the bank and your stable and have future characters, and you manage your inventory and you don't want to craft everything... Basically the craft bag is the primary reason to get eso+, mostly because make your life easier.)

My advice if you want cheap crowns, buy the eso+, if you want the craft bag to make your life easier, buy the eso+, if you want to do the dlcs that you don't have, buy eso+, and then get them while on sale with the crowns that you got with eso+.

If you are planning to play slow, and enjoy the main story, it's going to take a while to reach the first dlc (orsinium) that you have to buy it on the crown store or having plus membership. Unless you think that it's really necessary to have the craft bag.

Thanks for reply and all the useful information.
But doesn't "The Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood." From the Steam Store.
Include all the DLC's?
It says:
(Includes The Elder Scrolls Online base game, Blackwood, Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset, and Morrowind Chapters.)
If so, I only get the crowns and the craft bag?
But maybe the crowns and the craft bag is very essential (as you wrote)?
I also consider buying just the base game without the dlc's, but I was concerned I missed out on some content then.

Update: I just read your post twice.
Now I understand the difference between chapters/expansions and dlc's.
Thanks again. I will research a little further myself now also.

The base game bundle you mentioned includes all 5 chapters published so far (Blackwood is the current) at both servers, permanently, and includes the extra 2 classes: Warden and Necromancers.

ESO+ subscription gives you access at both servers to all DLC zones and DLC Group Dungeons published so far except the current chapter zone (which is Blackwood atm, and a new chapter is published each year) during the time of the subscription, plus: infinite craftbag, 10% bonus XP and inspiration (crafting XP), double bank space, double housing space in every furniture category, and access to dye costumes w your currently accessible colors (you can dye motif styles of your outfit by default, but not your costumes per character w/o ESO+). You retain everything you gained and progressed while the sub was active after is gone, just won't have access to zones you don't own or have active the bonuses, nor being able to store more at craftbag (but still can use mats from it). No, the sub doesn't give you access to services sold at crown store like select any alliance at will, or use imperial race, or create characters w any of the 2 extra classes.

The difference between each is clear:

- Base game bundle is for access to the 5 chapters as chapters at both servers (and so to have both extra classes at both servers w/o have to purchase separately from the crown store). It's way cheaper than buy them separately at crown store, specially cuz you only need to buy once to have at both servers instead of have to buy at each server. Summerset is a must have chapter, as it's required to access jewelry crafting at all (nothing related to jewelry besides transmutation can be done w/o Summerset: creation, deconstruct, improvement, research, which does affect/limit what you can do when transmute).

- ESO+ saves you the hassle of purchase any DLC zone (chapters, GD's, and other zones) you desire to play at while the sub last, but can become expensive if you either don't play often or keep going for many months. Also is great to save the hassle of store mats at your inventory, bank, or storage containers due to the craftbag (is the biggest advantage of the sub, and since everyone needs to be it's own crafter, is definitely great). Yes, access to Summerset via ESO+ does count to use jewelry stations at will, but only as long as you are subbed. Sub is best at 2 points: During the 1st month or 2, and after you are very accomplished in the game and have all you need at base game to be a "pro" (all skill points at base game, most important gear set parts found at base game, base game endgame = fashion, all skills you will need at your character maxed, as much as possible of non-jewelry crafting research done, most important goals and achievements of base game, and as much as possible from base game to don't have to come back or don't miss anything you will need or you will want to have done).

It's your choice, but the base game is already big enough to keep you busy for a while, and yet some few DLC content is either a must have or at least very convenient.

Edit: you get 1650 crowns every month of sub, paid as lump sum if you get multiple months in 1 purchase.

Thanks for your reply.
Appreciate all the information.
I currently consider what to get or not based on the information given.
But I think the Plus Membership looks very "good to have".
Just need to make a choice and think a little.

I don't like getting half-way into games.
When I start a game like this, I usually spend a lot of time on it.
So I might end up getting both.
For a mmorpg, it isn't "that" expensive.
In my understanding, there is a lot of content here.

Here you can see what's dlc or chapter, https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/updates
and yes, it's confusing.
and the shop: https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/crownstore/category/1

Crowns is the premium money to buy dlcs, or cosmetics etc It's not necessary gameplaywise, unless to get the dlcs.

The craft bag is not necessary if you learn to manage the inventory and doing many other things. But it's the big reason, most people pay for the subscription because makes your life easier.

For example, I'm also a new player. I bought the standard version (base game + morrowind) and I pay for one month subscription, mostly because a bundle of dlcs were on sale and I could get them. Next month I don't think I'm going to play a lot, but I can still play. The only pressure that I've, it's to upgrade the damn stable of my three characters. Advice, upgrade your stable, and don't worry the game will give you a horse for free.

Hiperspace explained much better what I said.

Yeah, the game is HUGE, and it's worthy to play the story of each faction. I'm a solo player and I just like to explore and I spent more than 100 hours just enjoying the main story of one faction (base game, not even chapters or DLC).

Thanks for bringing that up. I was about to write that too. Tomorrow at 10 AM EDT should start a sale of base game and maybe base game bundle due to the Blackwood event. We don't know the discount yet, but most hope is 50% or more.

Thanks for this.
I will keep watching the Steam Store.
Would be great with a discount!

I tryed 1 month subscription and now i dont want to play without it anymore, highly recommend

Yes you need ESO plus otherwise you will go crazy trying to manage all the gear and crafting materials you pick up. Getting a three month subscription is worth it especially when you're just beginning the game. You can try out the DLC's and see which ones you want to buy then you can use the crowns they give you with the subscription to buy them. The free crowns cover most of the subscription cost so you don't have much to lose. Without the bottomless crafting bag and extra bank space you spend a lot of time creating extra characters just to store your extra stuff. That is not fun.

Contrary to what other users wrote, I think ESO+ is not necessary at beginning. You can play the game without minor DLCs, learn how things work, level up your pg, learn crafting, learn how equipment works, bank spaces, housing, etc... Only then you will have full understanging on what ESO+ will give you. It is very much if you can afford its price, and very advisable in my opinion, but also very useless until you don't need it, that is (in my personal opinion) after having played the base dungeons, and after having chosen your main equipment gear... That is maybe around level 50 cp 160-300
Argent Sep 30, 2021 @ 4:48am
You need it mostly for access to dlcs, chapters (except newest, w/c is Blackwood), the 1650 crowns (which is to buy and unlock dlcs permanently- dlc is around 1500-3500 crowns most of the time) and of course the crafting bag, double storage, double bank space, access to dlcs (so u can try them out and buy what u think is worth it) and exclusive deals. But if u want to get the chapters cheaper buy Blackwood Collection way more cheaper than buying the dlc versions (and Necromancer classes are included with it, w/c is otherwise sold separately in CS)... but u still have to buy smaller dlcs (Orsinium, Thieves' Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Clockwork City, Murkmire, Markath, Waking Flame, etc- Imperial City is free so no need to buy it) with crowns. And getting ESO plus is the best considering for the same price of a 1500 crowns pack u get 1650 crowns and other benefits.

Also chapters are available and called as DLCs in crown store. The main difference between them is they're more costly to buy with crowns (3500 crowns each dlc chapter) and the two "dlcs/chapters" Morrowind and Elsweyr's exclusive classes- the Warden and Necromancer are sold separately in crown store, tho if u get the standard edition of ESO it now includes Morrowind chapter, which includes the Warden class. But if u want to get Elsweyr with Necromancer class better buy Blackwood Collection.

Seems a better deal to get the Collection then get ESO plus to save up on buying crowns and buy dlcs u want. Crown crates are mostly for vanity, cosmetics and housing furnishings so its not needed, though if you like to loot stuff buying storage crates (with Tel Var or crowns if u got enough) is really advisable. Also dont bother getting CE since the ones in crown store seems better since it also include preorder packs including preview crown crates, styles, pets, mementos, etc (minus preorder mounts) which is better, tho u have to wait for Blackwood CE upgrade to be in Crown Store next year.
