Dungeon finder taking ages
Should it take this long? Ive only gotten into one dungeon which was yesterday, took me around 40 minutes. I always go random dungeon. Tried to get into one today but didnt work.. at first try i waited for 50 minutes then I went afk for 10mins and missed it. later i tried again and waited 1h and 20min, didnt find anything so i restarted waited 40min again: nothing. really?

DPS: wait forever
Healer: get in fairly quick
Tank: get in quick
yeah, dungeon finder always takes forever.unless youre a tank (and usually healer, though i've still had some long waits)
is it just to select "being a tank/healer" or do I have to be that class or whatever it is. sorry im new to the game

It's just selecting it. The game does not check if you're a proper tank or healer. All class can play all roles to some extent. Please do not go in as a fake healer/tank.
This game has to many damn DPS, if you want fast queue times go healer or tank. Never....fake role ever on DLC dungeons or veteran dungeons.
If you're below level 50, 40 minutes is pretty fast for a dungeon queue as DPS.

You can expect hour+ waits even during peak hours.

If you're CP160 and higher, queueing for Veteran dungeons as DPS only takes around 10 minutes, maybe 20 during non-peak hours. (Sometimes faster than that, like when Undaunted dailies reset. Getting in for those takes like 5 minutes.)
find someone else to join with. From guild or zone chat. Joining together with another dps will join u much faster in duo than solo.

or, equip a heal ability or a taunt, and go heal/tank for the normal version runs
