Why would you, if you own it already? Is it the same platform, and are your accounts linked?

I'm assuming you have a seperate account that you have to enter the login credentials for the copy you own from Bethesda? Steam uses its own login credentials if you play the game through Steam, so they are in effect two seperate accounts, so yes you will need to buy the game again through Steam if you want to keep playing it.

I already own it through the bethesda launcher, and I was able to link my steam account to my current account succesfully, but after this free week is over I imagine I will have to buy a 10 dollar lisence to access the steam version.

Isn't that, like, the whole point of the linking process? To move your account over to steam?

I didnt ask a question about the linking process. I asked if I would have to pay for the game twice.

No. It's a bug with steam. It's happening with a few other games. I know it's been happening with Red Dead 2. Basically just wait a while and send a support ticket to steam about it. That's it really.

No, you don't. Your game account data is stored by ZOS, not by Steam. If you already have the game outside Steam, active on your ZOS game account, you do not need to buy it again.

By the way, do not go for Steam version. Be glad you have the base game outside Steam. Steam and ESO often do not get on well.

What do you mean? I've never had any issue whatsoever with Steam version. If anything the Bethesda version was always terrible. Slow, clunky, often down for hours, hard to go to forums or get instant help with technical issues.

Steam version of ESO quite often has issues on login to the servers. The fact that you may not have experienced it yet does not mean it does not happen.

Hard to go forums or ZOS support have nothing to do with Steam or non-Steam version.

I guess you weren't playing back in 2018 or not on the EU server. We've had so many Steam login issues I've stopped counting before they kinda fixed it months later. June 2018 in particular was awful.

The problem repeat often, last time it was a month or two ago.
