essential mods imo are:
bandits ui
srendarr
harvestmap
skyshards/lorebooks
Now lets talk about addons. All of them afaik can be searched via Minion cuz seems like all of them are at the website of ESOUI (but some come as standalone as well, just very inconvenient... at least compared to use Minion to install and update). You get via Minion the same info you see at ESOUI, but w/o using browser (even the screenshots). There is a pletorah of addons for a wide variety of needs, and you can stuff as much as your PC can handle. Just remember 4 things:
- Keep an eye on updates reflected on Minion, so fire up the program at least once a week as a preventive (I load it every game day in case I find something to install... or uninstall)
- Settings--if any--are adjusted in-game, at the Settings menu, all the way to the bottom is the addons within settings (the Addons menu of the main menu is meant to list all addons and tell if they are working, and why if it doesn't). Keybinds are set at Controls menu.
- If an addon--in its settings menu--allows you the option of use your settings for all your char, it means per account, not per server, and is actually extremely convenient to set things equally w all your toons to save effort. If you want something different later turn off the option at that time and do your will. You are in charge.
- Many of these addons have dependencies, most commonly Libraries (although some addons do require another to work). These are more addons whose purpose is to set program/data base to addons that use/need such functions. They are installed, maintained, and overall treated the same way as the addons they serve, but they themselves are not for the end user to manage, but for addons makers to have and provide universal data and functions. WITHOUT ITS DEPENDENCIES, THE ADDON DOESN'T WORK AT ALL.
Here are some I use, including a minimap so you don't have to castrate for one:
- MiniMap by Fyrakin: very conmvenient minimap compatible w addons that put info in your main map. Comes in more than 1 shape (I use square, but many people prefer circle), and have option to show a clock (so you know where in IRL time you are when the game absorbs you too much XD).
- Lui Extended: Have you seen on YT vids how streamers/bloggers have so much combat info all at once, in a relevant and visible/readable format, obviously different and better than default? Well, this is 1 of the 3 used for that the most among players. Customizable combat info on what and where to see, and which color to use. Also lots of non-combat info can be customized on what/how/where to see it. That includes manipulation of prompts amid screen, at the upper right, and chat screen.
- Srendarr - Aura, Buff, and Debuff tracker: Like Lui Extended but w less options and different look. I use both simultaneously due to the way e/ works and presents info.
- Destinations: Like the name suggest, shows destinations of almost all kinds right in your map, minimap and compass. You can customize what it shows and how. Compatible w addons that show what this one doesn't. It's a must have.
- Skyshards: like Destination but for Skyshards. Works on map/minimap/compass. Self explanatory... And you want this!
- HarvestMap: The trick behind the magic of find easy and fast those resources nodes including fishing spots. It permanently marks discovered ones w large 3D icons to tell what kind of resource is it (and 2d icons at map/minimap/compass), and even show undiscovered nodes w grey dots. You know you want it unless you don't touch crafting.
- LoreBooks: to find all those sneaky LoreBooks. Works on map/minimap/compass.
- Lost Treasure: Eh, not so lost anymore after you install this. This shows locations of Treasure Maps and Surveys. You know those weird maps w juicy stuff but can't find w/o hassle where they are, now all you need is the map and read the heading, then just go there by reading the marks in your map and find which has that heading (can't be easier). Works on map/minimap/compass.
- Urich's skill point finder: A list/tracker for all skill points locations/activities, including how many there are in such location or quest line and how many you already have from there. While Skyshards addon shows you skyshards, this one helps you complement by telling you about skill points not on a physical location up for grabs. Excludes the 2 skill-pt scroll.
- Combat metrics: To study yourself (and group members) regarding damage dealing and healing. A must have for better-than-causal players.
- Auto Category - revised: locate your items in your inventory and bank in a more efficient way, collapsible categories within their category general. Not a must, but is a stress reliever when you manage your inventory often and carefully.
- AlphaGear 2: gear/skills/appearance builds manager. To change w 1 button your gear/skill/appearance builds. Can store plenty of builds, allowing 20 sets of 16 builds, w customizable names, icons, and hotkeys. Either this one or another you see often in YT is a must for serious combat.
I use quite more for things like crafting, questing, chat, UI, etc; but the list would be too long and may not be of your preference, so I selected these ones as more universal approach (including your dear minimap, you welcome :P).
Enjoy your rebirth at ESO :) .
If you are doing lots of dungeons and trials:
- Raid Notifier (gives you alerts for trial mechanics)
- Code's Combat Alerts (gives you alerts for dungeon mechanics)
If you are doing lots of trading:
- Master Merchant (MM): keeps track of how much items are selling for in all of your guilds to help you price your items
- Tamriel Trade Center (TTC): like MM but instead of tracking sales, it tracks listed items on every trader throughout the game
- Awesome Guild Store: re-works the UI of guild traders. Makes it a lot easier to use and I can't live without it
Travel:
- BeamMeUp: This addon is A MUST. It takes everyone in your guilds and friends list and lists where they are in a searchable list. You can then port to them for free. It's saved me over 400k since I've started using it a year ago.
- AssistRapidRiding: When you mount up, this addon will slot Rapid Moneauver (gives a 30% speed boost) in a specified action slot and replace it with the previous ability once you cast it. This is another addon I can't live without.
As for addons that are more personal preferences:
UI: Bandit's UI is my personal favorite but a lot of people also like AUI and LUI. Bandit's UI is newer and has a lot more useful features while AUI and LUI have been around longer and thus have more fans
Minimap: Votan's Minimap is my personal favorite but there are others out there (Votan has a lot of really nice QoL addons as well)
Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter: auto crafts the needed items for your writs and has many other useful features
WritWorthy: essential if you are doing large amounts of master writs. Ques items up and crafts everything at once before you even accept the quest
Thanks, I'm having trouble getting them to load when playing though. I've installed minion and the addons available through their database but nothing's happened in-game
I managed to get banditinterface working but none of the minimap/skyshard/guild trader addons are loading
I didn't have the correct dependency libs, got it working now but its ripped up my FPS rate to about 30! trying to play around with minimap delay settings to increase performance
MiniMap by Fyrakin
i've got a fairly good balance now and my FPS is okay, I'll take a jerky map over a jerky toon. I can't get master merchnt to do anything though. Ideally I was after something that can autoset my selling price, I feel like I used to have something like that in WOW
Cool, thanks a lot for the help
