ESO launcher still doesn't start with steam [solved]
Hi there, i reticently bought the game on the 1st of October from steam and i already played it a bit on a free weekend in 2016 i think. i still have the zenimax account Information from 2016 and i still can login into my account via https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/ however when i want to launch the game from steam the launcher does not open and Steam only shows for a second that i am playing than i am back to the normal online status. I can launch the launcher separately from my folders but than i can not log in.

I reinstalled the game already 2 times but nothing seems to work. I'll now do a another downloade since have to leave the hose but do you guys have any tips after that? i Do not expect it to work.

Help would be appreciated.

EDIT_Btw my zenimax Konto is set to "KONTOSTATUS Aktiv - Probe"wich would translate to active - test

EDIT2: solution was to start Steam as admin

Seems almost like something is halting the launcher from running.

Do you have any strict antivirus/firewall software running? If so, that may be the cause.

In some cases, ISPs block Zenimax traffic, which causes the launcher to fault and produce an error.. but not prevent it from running.

The only two things I can think of that might be happening:

1. Some kind of other software on your PC is preventing the launcher from functioning.
2. Your PC is, somehow, missing some kind of framework necessary for the launcher to successfully open. (.NET Framework, VCRedist, etc.) - However, typically, in a case like this, the launcher would immediately produce an error dialog box of some kind to inform you of the error.

I suppose you could try poking around inside the installation folder and look for any error logs to see what those might tell you. A handful of folks have figured out their launcher issues by doing this.

If i remember correctly i had to install the oder versions of framework manual after installing the game.
However in addition to windows defender i am using Panda Dome i would say a fairly aggressive Antivir. I will try to disable it when i have the download finished.

But starting the launcher manual did work and i could go to the Account login screen. I will report back when the download is finished.

I started the Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe manual from \Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\Launcher Launcher is open and it is updating the game. Launcher works, clicked on PLAY in the launcher tried to login and got the massage account/Passwort unknown if i got the game via steam i should start it via steam.

have you made account with ESO yet. Steam knows who you are, but ESO-ZOS doesn't know you. Go to ESO website and make ESO account-it is required.

I do already have an ESO account. However my launcher does not start through steam.

From the ESO Ticket service i got the reply that they have problems with accounts linked through the website to steam. They seem to not be able to login. However can not even tr to login because the launcher does not start through steam.

Okay so ESO Support said through the support ticket that i should contact steam to solve this Problem. Well until now i do not know how to contact steam support.
I tried to refund the game through steam but steam already said 2 times no since i "played already 4 hours".
I think the first time the launcher started through steam and i downloaded the game. So now i have "played" the game for more than 2 hours (downloading in the launcher, was really fun) and steam denies my refund request. i am not even sure a person is checking my refund request.

Someone has another idea?

So it worked for me when i started steam as an admin. now the launcher opens.

Now i am updating the game and see in a few hours, after work if the game really starts.
