On a scale of 1-10 how important is Ebon Armory for a DK trials tank?
What are some possible alternatives that people won't get pissed at me for using. I am already gonna use Alkosh. Thinking about using Torugs, Plague dr, aegis of galenwe as a possible alternative.

I'm personally fond of green pact, provides good health and health regen.
Armor of imperium is nice as it provides a 12K+ shield to you and team from time to time.

I'm not a personal fan of ebon armory as I don't think the 1k health is much to talk about and won't really matter most of the time, only if they drop to around 1k health or less will it actually matter, which rarely happens. But that's just me.

I use the Plaguedoctor set on my Tank for health bonus. Weapons+Jewels
https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Plague+Doctor+Set

Crafted my own https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Fortified+Brass+Set

And use the Undaunted set https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Mighty+Chudan+Set

Once I have 9-trait crafting I'm thinking of replacing FortBrass with the Twice Born so I can get two Mundus Stone effects at the same time. Since 32K is the hard cap for Physical and Magika resistences, and I'm well over those. Even debuffed I stay capped.

It can be better than Plague Doctor depending on your max health. Warrior Poet set also raise your resistances.

My Templar tank use,
Warrior Poet
Armor of Imperium
Engine Guardian (monster set)

Warrior Poet raise your HP and resistances.

Armor of Imperium raise your HP and has a chance to give damage shields to you AND your allies near you, when you take damage. (10% chance)

Engine Guardian set is very useful for me since my tank use both stamina and Magicka. So he can utilize any resource Regen from that set.

Warrior Poet is noob set for beginners.

For end game main tank build for trials you want in this order:
- Ebony
- Alkosh
- Perfect Aegis of Galenwe
- Powerful Assault

Over 650h as tank in ESO here.

So pretty much the sets that buff teammates are popular?

Can these sets be used without a resto staff/templar skills though? I chose argonian to get the benefit from the resourceful passive.

Just think about it. Trials are 12 player content. Why would you buff only yourself?

You don't need to have over 60k HP. First off all - all bosses have 22+ milion HP on normal and 60 milion HP on hard mode. So you need to be ressistant and to be able to block alot which means good rescources managament. Then you need to dps as well. Why? Because you need to take bosses as fast as possible because after time they start to launch mechanics which gonna wipe your entire team and then you.

Alkosh is for DPSing - amazing dmg/debuff just by using synergies - it requires no stamina/mana for you - just press "X" and do alot of damage without touching your rescources. Now, since you stand in one place for 5-15 mins face to face with a boss as a tank and there is literally synergy spam around you - why wouldnt you use it?

Ebon armor for team buff - thats 14,400 for entire team. Now, you gonna ask - how extra 1200HP per player will make any diffrence? Well, once you stack it with other buff comming from your & your team gear/abilities then things are getting clear. Team buffs comming from your teammates gear (which they should have equipped) such as - +10%HP, +10% magicka, -12% on stamina abilities, -6% on magicka abilities, +12% healing taken, +10% health/magicka/stamina recovery etc - will start to stack making your characters two times more powerfull than normal.

Now, since "War Horn" is most popular ultimate for every class in Trial - it raises all group HP by 10% - which combined with Ebony will give around +3-4,5k HP in combat for every member of your team. Moreover, if you have Warden in your team this bonus (major toughness +10% health for group) will be uptime non stop.. That's togheter with your ebon set more than 25% of HP of total health of your healers/dps!!!!

Why you dont use Warrior Poet? Because bonus of 10% is not 10% of your total health, but only health without buffs so it will be max +2.7k health. . Morover this bonus is being negated by War Horn or any healing spell of Warden from Green Balance line (if he has passive - and every high CP player does have it) since they provide also minor toughness (+10%) and they dont stack....

The other gear sets I have suggested are also decent. For real, there is a little variety when it comes for tank/healers in Trials. Things are diffrence in dungeons since these are only 4-player content and they are much easier if you won't count some hard mechanics in just few of them.

Thanks for this

Sets like plague, warrior poet, green pact ect are bad imo, they are selfish tanking sets. You want sets that buff your allies. The the extra hp you get from plague for example won't matter much anyway, a good tank can tank fine in supportive sets and it will have a bigger impact.
