The Elder Scrolls Online

Resolution / Fullscreen Bug
Whenever I launch the game and it launches in fullscreen mode, the resolution is set down really low. Despite the game saying the resolution is 1920x1080 (main monitor's resolution), it is actually in 1280x720 (second monitor's resolution). However, the game is being displayed on the main monitor. To make it run in 1920x1080, I have to change the settings to Windowed or Windowed (Fullscreen) then back to Fullscreen. That way, it actually runs at 1920x1080.

Does anyone know how to fix this so that the game launches in 1920x1080? It already says it does, but it clearly doesn't. Its a minor annoyance but one I have to deal with every time I launch the game.

1) You could check your Display settings to ensure that your monitors are set as Main / Secondary

2) Try running ESO as Admin

3) Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date

4) If your GPU can handle it try leaving it on Windowed Fullscreen and see if that helps? I typically play it on Windowed Fullscreen until I'm in a trial or Cyrodiil where FPS matters.

If nothing else maybe just run a game repair? This sounds super annoying tho, even if you say it is just minor. It would drive me nuts too.

For a while I thought I had fixed it - then I saw it was on Windowed Fullscreen because my mouse went onto my other monitor. I'll try some of your other fixes, and if all else fails I'll play on Windowed Fullscreen unless I definitely cannot have my mouse wander off on me. Thank you.

hmm interesting. I'm going to do a little research as well and see if anyone else has this issue. Oh also check your UI size in game. Sometimes if the slider is set too high it will royally mess it up. While inside the game go to Settings > Video > Interface > Use Custom Scale (see if this is turned on or off)

If it's OFF and you're having this issue try turning it on and then adjust the UI smaller or bigger as needed.

If it's ON and the slider is far to the right try turning it down some to make the UI smaller.

Does this happen when you switch toons? Are you using any addons for UI? If so are you noticing that it really happens the most when you toon hop? Not sure why it wouldn't save your settings if you had to change it each time.

Sorry if these solutions are all over the place, it can be so many different hings and I'm just spitballing ideas right now. Hope something works!

It only occurs upon start-up. No issues once it has been changed to fullscreen. I have only been playing on one toon recently, but when the issues first arose I was using multiple toons.

I am using a few addons, some of which add/change small parts of the UI, but the issue with resolution started before I got any addons, so I doubt they are the cause.

I also checked my drivers and they are up to date, as well as that the monitors are configured so that Display 1 is my main monitor. I have not tried running ESO in admin yet.

Just launched the game (which launched in the lower resolution) and the custom scale is turned off. I can see, however, without even turning it on that the slider is not maximised or minimised.

Very interesting. I'm curious to know what could be causing an insta-resolution change like that!

turning off nvidia geforce experience before starting game works for me.

Do you know if there is a way to turn it off only for ESO, but keep it on for everything else? If I have to turn it off every time I want to play ESO, it'll be easier to just change it to fullscreen every launch.

I have the same problem. i start the game,on setting it says fullscreen 1900x1080 but the resolution is really low.I tried to put in on borderless but i get kicked out then get a crash report.Any solution?

i have another issue, i have a 1080p monitor, but if like to run the game in 16:10 aspect ratio (with black bars on the sides)

but the game always stretches the resolution. i have disabled scaling in the gpu settings.

every other game respects the "no scaling" set in nvidia contol panel, but eso doesnt care
