Worst Dialogue/Character/Story Part - Coldharbour: Vanus Galerion
This is the main story we are talking. It was pretty decent up until this moment where we find ourselves in Coldharbour trying to gather the scattered forces.

To the east, we are to meet Vanus Galerion, his projection at least. Then the burden of running this quest falls on our shoulders.

1. Great great great. Eveything in this mission is Great. From Vanus to the Shackle. Learn some vocabulary.
2. Cheap humor that will entertain kids.
3. Worst of all, that cheap humor comes from a "Great" Mage, who is so powerful, that he can divide his essences to not get captured. Whose Essences can endure many tortures. Such an Elf that does jokes on an IQ level of 80. Who also talks like a child.

What the F! Who wrote this poop? And who paid him to do so?

I had to just get it out of me. This is disappointing to see.

I remember when I first came into the tutorial starting out in Summerset and thinking how poor the writing seemed. The game has some inconsistent writing quality all around. Every so often I see some dialogue that seems very "that'll do."

I've done this mainquest again recently but I don't remember any jokes. Can you write any jokes(no matter bad or good) which were said by Galerion?

I always thought that part was meant to be kind of a deliberate parody of bad dialog.

I mean, no one could have written the line: "Defend me while I cast this incredibly powerful and fantastically impressive spell" to be taken seriously, right?

It is real odd that they'd do that with a character so lore heavy as Vanus though. It's the kind of thing I'd expect them to do for laughs with some generic NPC wizard on some side quest, not the guy who founded the freaking Mages Guild during the main questline.

The ritual was too camplicated and it was performed in very dangerous place. Simply put, Vanu didn't want to be interrupted.

Exactly.

Even a random NPC from the mages guild shouldn't talk like this, wouldn't talk like this. You destroy your immersion when you do such things. They are already doing many other, rather negative things with the game (such as the rock companion to easily name one) that break the image of Elder Scrolls.

And I really don't understand why.

I get that, but why not: "Defend me while I cast the spell", "Defend me while I destroy the anchor", or even just "Defend me"

The fact that he takes the time while performing a complicated world saving ritual in a daedric prince's plane to tell everyone how "incredibly powerful and fantastically impressive" his magic is either satirical or terrible writting.

Vanus Galerion is a genius. And geniuses can be very odd and can talk as they want. So if Galerion belives his spell is so good he has all right to say anything about it

I know Math genius IRL, he has the same manner of speech as Vanus

Vanus is an eccentric and also arrogant person theres not really a major issue with this quest. enjoy the game a bit and stop nitpicking.

The real world where most geniuses are eccentric and often mentally ill. where else? what kind of world do YOU live in where intelligence doesn't usually come with the price of some level of insanity or mental illness?

Did you personally see such a person? Did that person have success in life like our Vanus here?

That is not arrogance , that is stupidity. Learn the difference.

I can write several examples especially for you. For example, Cavendish was a very odd person, but he discovered some fhysical laws before another scietists. Van Gogh was not of this world too. Also in my own school the cleverest students were very odd and asocial.

I don't know who Cavendish is but I can assume a few things. Both of your examples were not leading any people. Both examples do not align with Vanus Galerion at all. Prove me that they talked like an idiot, like our Vanus here. Prove me that they were able to lead like Vanus.

I want to give you some examples too,
Do you want to see some genius people? Here have some;
Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Steven Hawking, Einstein, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet etc. etc. the list goes on. They all are eccentric to their own right but neither of them talks like an idiot. Some of them are very capable leaders. Like our Vanus here.

Do you want to see some good arrogance too?
A character from Vikings comes to my mind. Ivar the Boneless. That's arrogance. That's real arrogance. Or checkout the American Gods, they are gods after all. Some other level of arrogance you can find there, from very talented actors.

TL/DR: Your examples are bad and they were not eccentric in the way you think that geniuses are.
