Bad rotation or bad gear?

Am i doing something wrong on my magsorc? I'm using the easy sorc build from Xynode Gaming and my avg dps being only 10k while my guildmate whose cp lvl is similar to mine(also magsorc) does avg 30k dps.Is it that my roation sucks or gear sucks? , would appreciate any advice given

you should perhaps change rotation and even sets if u hit only 10k

Maybe you're slow in rotation or a high latency victim download combat metrics and post screenshot it will be easier to point out problem.
And do mention your gear and rotation.

Im using julianos set currently my rotations basically prebuff power surge > liquid lightning > la > Boundless storm/Power surge(whichevers durations low) > la > Elemental blockade > backbar > ha > daedric tomes > ha > daedric tomes > repeat

Julianos is a good set for mag users what about your monster and second set for example i use 5 × Siroria , 5 × mothers sorrow , 2 × illambris (monster set).
why are you using daedric tomes? It is not a spammable for front bar you need a spammable like force pulse or clench and it needs to be your front bar for back bar is for your dots aka damage over time abilities like elemental blockade and all.
