clockwork defense cores... (save me please)
how do you beat these things?? I am a dragonknight and have over 21000 health due to gear enchantments with a frost bow and a fire axe
my abilities are flame lash 1, molten weapons 3, spiked armor 4, dark talons 4 and stonefist 4 with dragon leap 2. I have a few potions for health which are absolutely useless and no one to help me. I am stuck...

how on earth did you guys defeat these things? I heard that staying out of aggro range is a good tactic and I would agree if it wouldn't keep sucking you in and just whooshing half your health each time! I am losing gold quite fast due to me needing to repair my gear each time and I am running out of options... I am lvl 11 and I haven't ever even got it down to half health, only close to half and then I die due to it sucking me in each time...
apparently sprinting around it is a good tactic but... stamina?

(I seriously need help)

Coult you try to explain that a bit more? I really hope that you're right about that blocking thing! Perhaps I can finally just snipe it with my bow and not get pulled in as they don't regenerate health.

Bring a lightning staff on the back bar... You can take out the rolling robots from a distance to avoid the core's ranged attack
What is the backbar? And also, rolling robots? (I am still at the first core and I haven't seen any rolling robots)
if you get to level 15 you can have 2 weapons and a second sets of skills on your bar
You will see then. If I remember correctly... there will be 3 cores. One of the core's has 3 robots rolling around it.

I first did it with a Nightblade, with duel wielding daggers & lightening staff in my back pocket.
now lvl 15
I'm working on getting a decent staff right now
also, I am at the first core you encounter, the one where barbas says "you can't stop me if the defenses won't let you in" or something along those lines (I am unsure if the cores randomize for each player but I don't think so)

No randomization, and you can only access one at a time. You don't need a great lightning staff... just patience.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. I had a new player send me a group request. I'm training my DPS Sorceress to be a Healer in a noob zone. So I healed him while he faught Daedra relentlessly.

I admired his drive & determination... So I made him some Torug's Pact training gear (10% EXP from kills), and 8 enchanting glyphs. He went from level 4 to 24 in a couple hours.

You will have to do the quest yourself, but you as questions in game. You can look me up if you wish, and I can help you with armor & weapons.
Thanks! Perhaps I will if it still proves too difficult after some time!
(also, what are group requests? I seriously don't know anything about this game :P)
The Group & Activity Finder tool can assist you in finding other players to join with.

To access the tool on PC/Mac:

1 Press “P" to open the group menu.

2 Select your role.

3 Select your activity type.

4 Select "Join Queue".
PC Players:

To add a friend, ensure they are on the same Megaserver (NA vs EU) as you and proceed with the following:

Press [O] to open the Contacts panel and then press [E] to add a name. Contacts can be added either by their character name or UserID. It is also possible to add a custom message to the request. You should always add "@" in front of the UserID when adding it to your friend list.

To send a friend request to a player who is standing nearby, hold [F] to interact with that player and choose the option to send a friend request from the radial menu. To confirm, release the [F] key.

@wukasick
Thanks for the guide Salinga, I'll be sure to give it a look!

I never thought things would be that simple... I always thought that that stuff was hidden under a cluster of menus. Thanks wukasick!

I am 37 lvl Nightblade and I also had trouble beating them. I came back to that quest, like, a half year later :steammocking: I used my life-leeching ability (though you may have other heals) and just kept running around them and peppering them with a bow. When the cores sucked me in I dodged away immediately, and they got me a few times, but in the end I beat them. Just avoid staying near them. Not sure about the level needed since it gets scaled everywhere now, but you did manage to take half of the core's health, so maybe you can do it.
I ran right up to the core and stabbed the §hit out of it with me Nightblade. If I left any distance, it would kill me with the ranged attacks.
Thing is, like I said, I am a dragonknight and I focus on melee more than anything else. I am basically the closest thing to being a tank, but since I don't know how to lead damage away from teammates I am just mostly there to lend a hand. The core is a different matter as I can't deplete the health of the core faster than it depletes mine and since my bow is now lacking even more as I didn't find a new one yet and I became a higher level it will do even less damage. The core starts using new abilities when I get it down to about half health and then it becomes what I struggle with today. At first things went well as I was still keeping sturdy but I just became smush when it started using it's other abilities... Nice to know though that it scales with you, as if it wasn't already ridiculous enough...

Also it's attacks are like homing rockets and I don't have enough stamina to continuously dodge, leaving me exposed. Not to mention it's close range attacks such as summoning those dwemer traps which forces me to engage in ranged combat rather than just hitting it repeatedly with my melee...

Update, and it's a good one: I got a very good staff, 1000 base damage and a 1700 elemental damage. I also leveled up again and finally got a healing spell so I don't have to rely on potions anymore!
