Hell YEAH. this makes no sense at all. to remove group bgs because a series of chickens were killed daily in BGs? I mean, I play mostly solo or with a single friend and it never came to my mind to wish there was no groups bgs...
yes ok but how that answers the question of having group BGs again...
Also what do you mean with "no ranked PvP"? There are leaderboards for Cyrodiil and every gamemode in BG too.
Alliance points is the only currency exclusively for pvp. Imperial City is not just for pvp, must people go inside not to pvp but to farm bosses which is a different thing. Pvpers dont get free golden jewelry as pvers get in veteran hel ra (which is very easy if you know the mechanics).
Cyrodiil cannot be called ranked pvp even if it has a leaderboard. Competitive games usually have ranks based on current matchmaking ratio, get matched only with other people with similar rank. Battleground is commonly ranked in other games altogether with arenas where 2v2, 3v3 are played in team deathmatch. Ranked pvp is supposed to be played strategicly in coordination with the other players of your team to achiev victory. Ranked pvp is structured, and should have rewards based on the rank level. This kind of pvp is nonexistent in ESO. Also, as i said before, desync is really killing pvp and high end dps rotations because it also affects weaving.
Group BGs were the most boring ♥♥♥♥ because it was nothing but immortal group synergy builds that ran out the clock. You either queued as a 4 man and did the same, or you lost. Me and my group got sick of it because it was so mind numbing even when we won. Getting rid of groups was the healthiest thing to happen to the mode.
Cyrodiil is group PvP. Imperial City is smaller scale group PvP. Battlegrounds are solo PvP. That’s how it is and how it should stay.
There’s a metric ♥♥♥♥ ton of PvP only titles and rewards including skill trees and gear sets, leaderboards for PvP modes so no need for ranked and the cancer that brings with it.
All that needs to be done is have the Cyrodiil servers fixed so the server side lag stops and ESO objectively has one of the widest and healthiest PvP scenes of any MMO.
Skill trees and grear sets are open to everyone and its the reason why group bg where removed, because everyone wanted to do dailies and couldnt sometimes.
So if a leaderboard based on how many hours you spend on cyrodill is fine for you, thats ok. I like more the value of my time and efficiency in the matches i win in a pvp essenario like bg or arena match.
You never saw an immortal group because they removed the ability to queue as one, that’s entirely the point. The meta for BGs was to have 4 people on a voice call roam around as a stacked group and time all their heals and buffs and CC immunities/Cleaneses so that not a single member of the group could be locked down and killed unless they did something stupid. Combine that with designated damage phases and it was just a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waiting out the clock for the majority of BG matches.
And I’m going to stop you right there with “everybody dies with ADEQUATE damage and cc” because that’s theoretically true but not practically.
Go in to Cyrodiil and spend time playing until you encounter a single person that can tank 20+ people for over 10 minutes while sniping kills here and there with a buffed DB. Now imagine 4 people doing that. Now imagine 3 teams of 4 people doing that. That was BGs.
And yeah, “zergs” happen in Cyrodiil, but it absolutely is a group PvP mode. Small groups of players can do literally the exact same thing that got Group BGs shut down and take on groups of 20+ people. And even if you’re not kitted out to do that, a small group taking over resources and roaming around killing stragglers or ghost capping keeps is one of the most important parts of Cyrodiil in terms of a faction getting ahead.
And seriously? You think there’s some “Zerg build” everybody runs in Cyrodiil? You understand right that a PvP build is a PvP build and the same variations you see in BG are the ones you see in Cyrodiil right?
PvP happens constantly in IC unless you’re hanging around your faction’s side and not going anywhere else. And no, it’s not ruled by a single guild, because whenever one guild shows up another guild shows up to challenge them because that’s part of the fun of IC and one of the few places guilds can reliably go up against each other.
And no, unless you’re buying them off traders for absurd prices, many gear sets require PvP participation to earn, and Alliance War skill trees can not be accessed in full until you’re at least rank 10 in Cyrodiil, which requires you actually participate, and some abilities are extremely important for high end Trials and other PvE content.
Sorry but it sounds like your problems come from a lack of understanding of how things work, as you yourself said you’ve only been playing for a few months and you haven’t seen enough to understand what fully is going on.
And if you want some cancerous ranked playlist because you think that gives you “better value and efficiency” then go play Guild Wars. ESO is fine the way it is with the exception of Cyrodiil’s server issues, and no, zenimax doesn’t “hate pvpers”, they just aren’t offering the experience you, personally, want.
They are just catering to their base because that is where the money is.
game would have been in way better state if they've just ignored pvp and carter only towards pve
