Stuck in Wailing Prison - First Time Players
My girlfriend and I have just started playing and neither of us can leave the wailing prison through the door to the Undercroft... We can see everyone else progressing through the door. All we get is 'You cannot use this door right now'. I think the first quest has glitched.

We've searched the entire map, spoken to everyone possible (Cadwell) etc but he game won't let us progress. I have submitted an 'Ask for help' request however wanted to see if someone had faced a similar challenge? Very frustrating as new players having spent hours downloading the game, we just want to play it!

Its not exactly a part of playable Coldharbour... you cant retun to Prison after going outside.

Opprinnelig skrevet av Deepblue:
It still is even if you have Morrowind.
It just happens when you want to start the main quest instead of after creating a character.
Thats different. In post-Morrowind play Prison feels like another quest in another Oblivion dimension, not like a Prologue/Tutorial. Only difference is movie cut before scene.

Just because you can't go back to it, doesn't make it not Coldharbour.
quarre 21. aug. 2017 kl. 8.03
Yeah, yeah. Lets pretend that Prison is on Coldharbor. Lets pretend that College of Winterhold is somewhere there. Lets pretend that there's tons of other Towers somewhere, even if you cant visit them on map where they supposed to be...
Sir Fed Dump 21. aug. 2017 kl. 8.05
It's not pretend.

"The Wailing Prison is a sub-location of Coldharbour, Molag Bal's realm of Oblivion. It is where the introductory quest to the game takes place."

Quoted for truth LOL.
Beside there is nothing of value in the prison of cold harbor. Unless you count caldwell but even he finds his own way out. Later on as part of the main story line we do go back to the prison

SPOILER ALERT

To rescue Lydia, that tall woman.

And it all works out.

We're not going there via Coldharbour. Some old guy (SPOILERS: ex-Emperor) just teleport us god knows where. It may be some creepy daedra's sub-demension in Oblivion, not Coldharbour. We can pretend its Coldharbour because its infested with daedras and uses same decorations. Same with few minor lesser daedra demensions.
Or its like "yey, there's a things that looks like those Molag Bal use every 1 min or less to drop ankors all across Tamriel, must be a Coldharbour..."

Why won't you just admit that you're wrong?

Hi all. Firstly thanks for the great response. Much appreciated. I've been travelling today hence the late response.

1) There is no quest active. Quest Journal states 0/25. There is no text to follow and no markings on the minimap which I am familiar with from Skyrim/Oblivion.

2) Cadwell is not on the map. He is an invisible NPC. I can see people standing by the fire and I assume talking to him before they progress through the door. There is no option for me to do this. I spoke to him once, we logged out after this and picked it up a week or so later.

3) No idea where Lyris is. Where is she meant to be? Perhaps invisible?

4) Prior to rsponding I've had another walk around the map/wher I came in, and checked the camp / door etc. Still nothing I can see to interact with.

Cheers.
JM

What does your quest say.

Yea I'd like to see the reply to that.

Start getting used to reading quest details Jay or this won't be the first time your stuck in this game.

No quest details - log is empty. If there is some way to look at historical / failed / completed quests similar to Skyrim I would value being told where this is?

Are you retarded?

Its seperate, but it is in coldharbour.

http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Soul+Shriven+in+Coldharbour

The name of your first quest is SOUL SHRIVEN IN COLDHARBOR. (if you don't have morrowind, that is.)

Why are you arguing against the actual facts of the game? This isn't an opinion arguement, this is one side with straight facts, and you screaming into a bucket.

And one of next quests called "Daughter of Giants", but Lyris is a daughter of 2 Nords, and only one of them had giants blood somewhere in past generations. So she's just a tall Nord, daughter of Nords.
There's also a quest "Weight of Three Crowns", but you wont get weight even of single crown. You're just a courier who doing some legwork.
There's tons of confusing quest names.

Btw, you could link this quest to topic starter as guide. But you didnt. F_g.

She is the daughter of giants. The father had giant blood (hence descendant) and was bigger than a normal nord. He even apologizes the Lyris, how he impregnated her mother knowing his giants blood would kill her during birth. Again, are you stupid? Do you not pay attention to the story?

Weight of Three Crowns is called as such because you are trying to herd cats (making the 3 rulers stop fighting long enough to get people to attack Molag). The "weight" is referring to the responsibilities each ruler has to their own people, making them unable to help.

Again, do you even pay attention to the story? You really stink at understanding lore.

Also, since you seem to want to be an idiot. I originally asked OP to say where they were in quest, in case they didn't want the whole thing spoiled for them. Called common courtesy, but you seem to have trouble with that.

Did anyone figure this out? I'm having the same issue. There is no one to talk to, and I have no quest, and I can't go through any doors.
