This is not the solution for the "server connection time out ", can't link my account to steam with this way
-In the main folder of your game, you must go to the Launcher folder and disable the option to execute as adm.
-Move to /The Elder Scrolls Online/game/client and mark you eso.exe to execute as adm.
-Now open your launcher and disable the option to open your game in 64x
Try it and see if works.Hope it does.
I also tried to reinstall, to close and reopen steam and Launcher... But this is the only working for me
I simply start the game from the ESO Launcher... I noticed this started to happen to me when I linked my Steam account to ESO. Some days ago ESO asked me if I wanted to link my Steam account. I was not sure but I said "Well ok what can go wrong". I think i shouldn't have done it. Since than I started having login problems. Today I tried to login different times but never could do it. So I tried from the Launcher and it worked.
For me it is here:
D:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\Launcher -> Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe
If I start it from STEAM, the Launcher on the bottom right corner has a Steam Icon, if I launch it from the Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe it has a Bethesda icon. The second one works. The only difference is that with the Steam Launcher the game does not ask me to login on the main ESO screen. With the Bethesda Launcher it asks me to login with my ESO account and then it all goes well but it doesn't appear on Steam that I am playing (so I can't use Steam in game). I can assume this is a bug related with Steam, probably something with the linked login.
Another way seems to be launching directly from the ESO startup, located here
D:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso.exe
Hope this can be of help for someone else.
This does not fix it for everyone.
When I load the game through steam and reach the login menu I receive an error immediately stating "Connection to server has timed out. Try again later." After doing some research I found this was a common problem over the last month. So I tried some recommended solutions:
- uninstall/reinstall
-clear game cache through steam
-validate files through steam
-repairing through the option on the initial U I Loader
-loading the game without steam "eso.exe, eso64.exe, Bethesda.net_Launcher" (the game forces me to use steam once I get to the login screen, but i do not receive the same error as previously stated)
-running the UI Loader as admin and also the game's "exe" as admin
-I opened all necessary ports (including steam)
-bypassing firewall
-bypassing (and stopping all together) my AVG virus protection
******closing steam, the client, the game, and restarting has not changed anything*****
"-In the main folder of your game, you must go to the Launcher folder and disable the option to execute as adm.
-Now open your launcher and disable the option to open your game in 64x"
How do you perform these two steps, my friend?
Edit: I found a fix for me. Looks like the Launcher needs updating and Steam hasn't done it. This is what I did:
In Library find your ESO game, right click on it and select Properties
Then: Local Files
Then: Verify Interity of Game Cache
I had around 79 files missing. Steam then started a 7gb download for ESO.
After that I started the Launcher which began an update. After that the game was playable. Hope this helps.
It worked on win 7 then I got a i76800k machine with win 10 and got this error. I tried the repair and reinstall and after two days of that since it takes hours to re dowmload, I figured it had to be something else. The error comes up so fast that it could not have been trying to talk to any server. I decided to look at my routers firewall settings. I have AT&T. Turns out there is a setting to designate one pc on the home netowrk for gaming. I saw that one of my tablets was selected. Since it worked on win7 with these settings I cant say for sure why it did not work on win10 but that did the trick. It is possible it was a coincidence but meh who cares it works and I dont have to wait 6 hours to download it yet again.
I am not a subscriber, and I have closed the game and the launcher and even logged off my steam account. I even restarted my PC and even turned it off and then back on, nothing.
For the past few days I've noticed the following: I enter character selection screen and then clicked on the character I wish to play.
When I select the character to play, it crashes on the loading screen, this occurred this morning and yesterday as well.
Now this morning my game will not connect to the game server - I keep getting that blasted "Connection to server timed out. Please try again later?"
Earlier I was getting something like - we encounter a problem with your account network setting, please contact support - something along those lines -
but now it just says "Connection to server timed out. Please try again later?"
