ESO blocked (blacklisted) by Avast Antivirus
Good day.
After today's maintenance I'm unable to start the game. Problem is that my Avast Antivirus prevents launcher from receiving data from patcher.elderscrollsonline.com, indexing about infected patch source.

Hi all,
I just solved this issue in my laptop : just deactivating the webshield from Avast for 10 minutes , running ESO loading screen, updating .Once done, I set the Avast webshield again.
I had already tried to create exclusion in the Avast analisis setup but it never worked for me .
Hope this helps,
Regards.

I feel like this may be an issue for a bunch of people, and it causes them too think that the game is causing them to not be able too play.

Anti'virus' like AVG and Avast and others tend to miss catagorize a bunch of game launchers thinking they are virus' mainly because they are unknown to their system..

I would reccomend to try and get the Updater whitelisted, and/or to turn off the antivirus when u are about too update the game... Turning off ure antivirus for a few minutes will not cause issues

Thing is, that for last several years ESO pared nice with Avast untill today's sudden "blacklisting" of the patching source.
Disabling antivirus is last resort I think.

i had the same proplem i solved it you need to look out at some options some say somting like "ask waht happen if something is found" i enabled the option and start the launcher and it ask me what should happen i cliced "exception on this program" and it works for me it may say somthing diferend in englisch but i translated as best i can from german to englisch

I also found that going to where it let's you directly add exceptions putting in the info listed about allows the update to go through normally, the launcher looked off for a minute but once it was update it looked normal and I was able to log in just fine

This is called a false positive; Avast is probably aware of it by now, I'm sure. They've likely even been in contact with ZOS Engineering to determine the cause and verify that everything is all good.

That said, to avoid these kinds of things in the future, you should add the entirety of the Steam directory to the whitelist of whatever antivirus program you use. Unless you download severely strange titles from Steam, I doubt it would ever be an issue.

i've no problems with anti-virus Advast, i made an Exception for ESO. I also run Steam in ADMIN.

No issue here with ESO through Steam and Avast Antivirus

Maybe: Avast Antivirus -> Protection -> Core Shields -> Settings -> General -> Exceptions -> Add exception and put patcher.elderscrollsonline.com ?
