Is there a limit for NPC Guilds per character?

I've been wondering if there's an NPC Guild limit for each of your characters? I've heard something about 5 guilds being the limit but from what I understand, that was meant for player guilds. So can I safely join all the guilds, even those I don't need that much, and not worry about not having enough "space" for the DLC guilds like Brotherhood etc?

The limit of 5 guilds only applies to player guilds.

You can be in all NPC guilds you can join at once.
