VPN for Updates?

So I understand to get around the launcher crashing on updates is to use a VPN. Seems legit. What is a good FREE one? I don't want to pay a service just to update my game. I did use ProtonVPN but my free trial ran out and doesnt seem to be working anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks.

you can fix this without using a vpn using this guide. its pretty easy, takes maybe 5-10 minutes.
