[PSA] you need to delete the two other language folder to gain +20gb of disk space !
On steam the game download the french, english, and german version no matter which one you use, and the two other language can take up to 20 gb of disk space for nothing.
I was kinda bummed after the big update to see that my game was even bigger than before with 90gb of disk space. Now the game size file is 67,5gb for me after the big update, which is much better.

just go to Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online or whatever your game files are located
Delete the two folders named "Vo_xx" and just keep the one you use, I'm french, so I removed EN and the german one.
If you don't play on Mac, you can also delete the MAC folder.

I tried to relaunch the game / steam multiple time and everything works and it's not downloading the whole thing again.

After downloading ESO completely, you can safely remove the VO folders for languages you do not use. For additional updates, the patcher will only update the VO files for any languages you already have installed.

Note that for users who completely uninstall ESO in the future, if they return and re-download the game, they will be required to re-download all available VO languages.

I've updated the Update 25 FAQ to reflect this.

thanks I removed all three. I like to keep things mysterious.

This sounds like something that should be public knowledge, i've never seen this info before.

If it works and creates no problems then great.

Probably not a good idea to delete those files if you've already started patching/downloading ? Some people on reddit did that and are claiming their patcher is confused and is having issues as a result.

I do agree with that though, you should not delete them as the patch is being downloaded and applied, do it before or after. I've had mine deleted for a long long time now as this is a known thing but rarely brought up anymore. There are zero issues with doing this. You can even verify your files and it will not redownload them. You only need the language file you intend to use. Oddly this only occurs with the Steam version, have confirmed this with a friend who doesn't use the Steam version.

Yep, only do this when the download is 100% completed.

The new update is messed up, goes on with around the level of your avatar in the grouping of a random dungeon join sequence, ♥♥♥♥ experience as well is negatively taking over, time to die truthfully as the new major update is a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ no.

P.S. I apologize for my bad language.

For our good luck, someone heard you and Zenimax took action. This is being linked with Zenimax post about this absurdly and unjustifiably big update.

They also add that we can uninstall the PTS by legit way, that is, using uninstall option at the very launcher. Space-saver for my laptop that was complaining of being nearly full for months.

To the OP, thx for this. It reached far and benefits many.

Just wanted to add that while I originally included this post, when I checked in with the team internally, it turns out that this is only a temporary fix :( more details in the pinned post.

However, we'll be re-investigating removing any unused languages from the Steam version. That's a lot of extra space you could all be saving.

Thanks, having something like the client asking us to choose our language would be neat. 20gb is a lot :Miller:
