Quest Issue: Hozzin's Folly
Now, when I got this quest, it seemed pretty straightforward. Disguise yourself, then sneak into the camp, learn some things, and get into the mine. Simple right?

Well, the quest fails to tell you a *lot* of things. I eventually fund them out by searching the wiki online, and one thing even *that* doesn't tell you.

First, you're 'sneaking in plain sight'.

What this means is you're disguised, but the bandits with torches can remove it just by getting close to you, so you have to avoid them. You're also not allowed to fight anyone, since you're sneaking in. So it's not just 'don't get seen', but also 'don't attack or kill anyone'. But that's not too hard is it? Which leads to the second thing.

Second, THE DISGUISE IS *NOT* LISTED AS A QUEST ITEM, WHEN IT ABSOLUTELY IS.

It's listed under Miscellaneous for some reason, and it really shouldn't be, since it has NO OTHER PURPOSE than to allow you to progress that quest. There's also no 'Press X to equip Disguise' option, like in other quests I've done, AND no indication while looting that you actually got a disguise. You just... have it somehow.

Because of this, i ran around for half an hour looking for one, pestering people in Zone and generally getting more and more annoyed until I abandoned the quest, thinking I had messed something up, and did the entire first part again. Of course, I *still* had the disguise, so nothing really changed. You'd think they'd remove an obvious quest item from your inventory when you abandoned that quest, but nope... it's somehow not a quest item! I only noticed once my inventory had maxed out and I was clearing junk.

So if this part of the quest has been confusing you, this is what the problem is. An item that is very much a quest item is not listed as such, and can get lost in your inventory. It also doesn't alert you to when you get one, or give you any prompt to putting it on, making it so you could find and have one, but not really know it's there.

At least that's what happened to me. :P

I don't know if anyone from the devs watches this place, but I really feel like this could use a patch; it's part of the beginner's arc ,and... it's pretty stupid to not list a quest item as a quest item.

Does anyone know how I can report this, since I doubt anyone will see this here from the devs?

You have to use the sneak move to get pass the guards. By doing that, you can see their outlines of their torches. Or just avoid them at all cost. Sure, its a pain for a starter quest but its not that hard.

The difficulty wasn't the issue though. It's the lack of info. The quest giver doesn't warn you about the scouts, or tell you you only need the disguise to get into the mine. You can literally just fight your way to the door and *then* put it on in relative safety instead of worrying about getting caught, since the fights are pretty easy.

That combined with the disguise not being properly classified in your inventory, not telling you when you find a new one, and thus being easy to misplace or in my case not even realize you have it is just annoying.

I'm pretty sure that when you're given the initial disguise the NPC tells you all about it. Also there's usually the hint note on the top right hand of the screen. It's been a while now but it definitely happens with other similar quests. So either this one is different or you didn't listen to the dialogue - which I know is very common.

I get what you say about where the disguise is kept but everything you pick up is usually at the very top of your inventory. As the disguise would be for immediate use I can't see why you would be storing it?

I'm wondering if you happened across the disguise outside of the conventional narrative and so didn't get the instructions. It happened to me before when I picked a disguise up from a random crate and was carrying it around for ages. Luckily by then I knew how these things worked so just jumped right in at the appropriate time. These things do happen.

I read and listened to the instructions, but I guess I was expecting the item to appear as a quest item, since that's what it is. When I looked for it and it wasn't there, I got confused for a while. It also didn't for some reason appear at the top of my list, as you mentioned.

The 'torchbearers can expose you' idea was never mentioned at all. The quest simply said 'disguise yourself so you can search the camp'. Even if I had found the disguise and put it on, I probably would have gotten caught because of this.

I don't think I did anything wrong other than not checking every inventory tab for the disguise.
