My suggestion is: Set the skill advisor to the kind of build you want (stamina DPS in this case), and follow its suggestions, but don't be afraid to also spend skill points elsewhere and experiment. You can get up to 405 skill points in this game, and following the advisor will only use less than 50 of those. You'll also get a scroll for a free total respec at level 45, and can generally respec as often as you want and have some gold to pay for it.
Bow is a good chouce for a stamina warden. You'll get a bear companion fairly early on, and it can tank enemies for you while you pelt them from afar. You'll probably want to learn a melee skill as well for close-quarters combat (dual wield for more damage, 1hand + shield for better survivability), but you can easily do that when you reach level 15 and get your second skill bar.
One thing that many people do, is to have at least one skill from each of your class skill lines in your bar, and wear at least 1 piece of each armor type (light, medium heavy). That way you're leveling up all you class and armor skill lines, which makes it easier to switch things around and experiment later.
