Making Ebony Armor?
One of my Player Chacters has the skiil needed to make Ebony Armor. I saved my Writs until I was able to buy the crafting set (300 writs). My question is problably basic, and may have been answered elsewhere, but here goes! Is there an advantage to crafting a set of Ebony Armor, that is an advantage over say, Glass or other Armor? Assume that I have the skill levels for each one. And is there a link to this information? Thank you for your help in advance!

No? Isn't it just for looks?

You could have bought the motifs from guild stores with gold... Waste of writs.
Btw don't bother crafting your armor Ebony style, your armor will include dropped parts which won't look Ebony style. Just go to an outfit station and make your outfit look full Ebony.

They're motifs, means that you can craft armor that LOOKS like Ebony Armor.

But it's kinda a waste of writs, cuz u can buy them for gold in guild stores.
And no one cares what the weapon looks like, because you can change your whole outfit.

Thank you all for confirming. Sigh

Actually, Crafting Ebony Armor does require the ebony style.

You can not craft Ebony Armor.
You can craft armor in the style of Ebony Armor, but it's not Ebony Armor just because it looks like it.

The Ebony Set is dropping in Crypt of Hearts.

All motifs are purely cosmetic and the style does not change the stats of your gear or give you bonuses, only sets do that (and obviously traits and enchantments)

Yes, you need the Ebony Style motif to craft Ebony Style armor or make your outfit look Ebony Style. But what I'm saying is that you could have purchased the style pages from guild stores with gold, because writ vouchers are valuable and shouldn't be spent for motifs.

Btw I don't recommend "crafting" your armor Ebony style because not every set is craftable. You're gonna need some good armor sets to get a good character build and most sets drop from dungeons etc. and they're not Ebony style. But as an alternative, you can change your appearance with the outfit system and can make yourself look like wearing full Ebony style. It is the better option.

For example, I love the Trinimac and Ebonshadow styles. But I need the Burning Spellweave set in my build and that set is not craftable, and only drops in Daedric style. I hate the Daedric style but I have to wear them to make the most damage because the set effect is too good. So what I do is wear them and alter my whole appearance from the outfit system, making my armor parts look Trinimac and Ebonshadow style. Just go to an outfit station and you'll figure it all out. You can wear non-ebony style armor parts and still look like full ebony.

But using the Ebony option in the outfit system still requires the motif, so you didn't buy it for nothing. You just could have get it for much cheaper. I can't believe you wasted 300 writs for it, I've been playing the game for a year and have 500 writs collected, never spent any yet :D
