There are like 400+ skillpoints available in the game
You can respe at any time (costs gold)
So, dont worry about spending points in skills, if only to test or level them
You cant know how good or bad a skill is before testing it yourself....
Your main choice is magicka or stamina
You can change this too, but races are more suited to one or the other, so, better to stick to the one fitting your race
Just put all / most of your stat points into magicka or stamina and use the right morphs / weapon / armor
Generally...
Light armors are for magicka users (+ staves)
Medium for stamina users (+ weapons)
Heavy for tanks
You want 5+ of an armor type to get the good passives fitting your character
Crafting is best with all on one character, your main or a dedicaced crafter
Without ESO+ and the craftbag, it is a pain because of inventory cluttering
Will compete with fighting for skillpoints until you have a lot
At start, you are probably better to ignore it totally or to concentrate on 1 or 2 lines
If you are pulling agro, probably due to 1H + S or ice staff
Anything with taunting should be avoided if you are not the tank in the group
Warden are great soloers because they have access to a well rounded set of skills and a pet
A pet helps big time in solo, not really for damage, but because it removes a lot of pressure from you
Any hit the pet is taking is one you dont have to avoid / tank / heal back...whatever
I like stamina because big pool of stamina helps a lot with running around, which you do a lot if you like questing, exploring, gathering...etc
Also, melee feels a bit more involved than magicka,...personal taste here
This way you gonna have 3 in 1 - tank, healer & dps. I have soloed a veteran dungeon on 280CP with this build (City of Ash 2) xD
And a last question, do I have champion points if it's my first character? As I read only players with at least 1 lvl 50 can earn that, but I see these numbers before names everywhere. So I didn't understand the article about CP, or I'm the only one with first character in the game, I can't find my CP anywhere, so I guess I don't really have one.
CP are account wide
First character wont have any CP until he reaches lvl 50 and starts to get Champion XP
Now, alts get all the unlocked CP from the get go, lvl 1 CP XXX
They just dont get any Champion XP until 50
