I started as a Dark Elf Warden

DE warden is fine

Not the best at magicka or stamina, but not horrible either
A bit better at magicka
Can switch without being total gimp
The small fire resist can help if vampire
Most of the fire bonus is wasted as warden has no fire skill

mag warden (ice mage) altmer,breton an argonian

You can be whatever suits your play style. If you want to be a dark elf, then be a dark elf. Nothing wrong with that.

Dark Elf is pretty much the best class for magicka anything except sorc (shock pluses).

DE passives work with Warden. Check out Alcast's fire and ice build.
