Why are ESO dlc expansion packs so expensive?
I mean, they even cost more than the game, and that'd just be the sum for one of them

Well, you'd think they'd make enough money from crowns.

Yeah don't buy them. Instead get eso plus, play them while it's active, and use the monthly crown rewards to buy dlc.

If you do buy crowns (I'd recommend not, you get better value buying even a month of eso plus), wait til they're on sale 50% off which they go on sale every few months.

That's a pretty good idea there, thanks. Tho it really is unfortunate how expensive this game is tbh

Doesn't the base game cost like... 10 or 20$? Listen, this is top tier advice.
Just buy the DLC when it is on sale during each DLC's yearly anniversary events, and don't buy any of the dungeon DLC because you don't need it really. Simple.
Tomorrow The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild DLC's will be on sale for like 2 weeks to celebrate their anniversaries.
During this time they will also probably allow everyone to use ESO+ for free for a week, which means you will have access to all DLC and other perks until it runs out. Just be sure to activate it in the Crown Store. So just make use of that if you REALLY don't want to pay.

This is solid advise. ESO+ only costs $15 a month which makes it no more expensive than most other sub2play MMOs but you get a lot more than any other MMO at that price including all of your sub fee back every month in Crowns. It's well worth the money and you get almost all of the DLC with it while the sub is active. The bottomless Crafting Bag alone is worth $15 a month.

Don't buy the DLC. The only ones I would suggest buying is Murkmire, Clockwork City and the 4 others you can get pretty cheap from a bundle that includes Thieves, Dark Brotherhood and Orinium. Really only buy the DLC that adds new regions and what not. If you want to play the dungeons just get ESO+

I just consider ESO to require a subscription. So much of the game is locked away without it or having to buy the DLC.

The game isn't that expensive or you really don't play a lot games, the base game offers a lot content for the price.I mean the norm for a big AAA release is 59.99 and the average rate for the season pass is 39.99 that 100.00 for the whole game and a season pass and most of the time those don't even offer half the full release worth of content at almost the same cost.

You also seem to think ya need all the content to fully enjoy the game, you don't unless you really enjoy the game and if you do cost shouldn't be a huge issues.

You have option and you can get content when it's on sale only and you be a fool to pay full price for old content.Plenty of stuff to do while you wait for content to go on sale.I imagine in June Steam will have there big sale and you can get most of this content on sale.

You also have to remember this game has been out for awhile you can't jump into a MMO that has 5+ years of content and declare it expensive because you want to play every piece out the gate.

I would expect any MMO that is 5+ years to have a steeper then average buy in if it has been supported in any decent manner and it doesn't require a sub. Some make you pay a sub plus still pay for content here is looking at you World Of Warcraft.

If you want to play an expensive, pay to win game, try BDO. You HAVE TO SPEND 1000 dollars just to compete. You have to play 24 hours a day afk just to compete. ITS CRAZY. Absolutely crazy.

I think you are missing the point of this question, as just as objectively the expansions. For example each WoW expansion cost $60 but it essentially doubled the games content. ESO's expansions on the other hand add a few new dungeons, a trials, and one new small region for the $60. Clearly the price a extremely high for the amount of content you receive as one should expect a massive amount of content at the price of a whole new game.

But I agree with you and the others that it is instead designed to be bought on sale or through ESO plus.
