Do I need DLC to unlock parts of the map?
So I am playin the game for free over the weekend and I plan on purchasing the game with Morrowind. I have noticed that there are dungeons that require either the plus membership or DLC. So do I need the DLC to access that entire section of the map or is it just for that dungeon?

ye :-D looks like that.. exactly
rly.. this greedy model is a bit pain ;-)
do u need bag for craft materials? pay monthly sub
do u wish dungeon run? buy that dungeon!
do u wish bank slots? buy them!
do u wish house for craft and item storage? buy that
and then buy craft tables for your home
if u need ount.. buy him
of u need questline - buy that questline
is here bounty on u? buy DLC and u can pay ingame money for clear self
do u stole some items? buy DLC. where u can "legalize" items
do u wish more chars? pay for it!

With the base game + Morrowind you'll have access to most of the map, except Gold Coast, Hew's Bane, Orsinium, Imperial City and Clockwork City. Other dungeons DLCs (Horns of the Reach, Dragon Bones and Shadow of the Hist) are just that, dungeons, they are in zones that are in the base game.
But if you want to buy something, just go for Summerset, Morrowind is bundled with any pre-order of Summerset. It isn't out yet, early access is May 21st and official launch June 5.

So I should be good content wise if I get the base game, Morrowind, and Summerset? I just dont want this to be like other MMOs where you spend $40 for the base game just to find out that you need to spend $200 ingame to be able to do anything.

You'll still miss DLC content : Dark Brotherhood (Gold Coast and Dark Brotherhood skill line), Thieves' Guild (Hew's Bane, Maw of Lorkhaj in Reaper's March, Thieves' Guild skill line), Imperial City (well, the Imperial City which is at the heart of Cyrodiil (PvP zone), two dungeons), Orsinium (Wrothgar, Maelstrom Arena), Clockwork City (Clockwork City zone and 1 trial) and six group dungeons from Shadow of the Hist, Horns of the Reach and Dragon Bones.

That doesn't bother me, I can come back and purchase them later when there is a sale. I just don't want to spend $40, play the game for a week or two, and then have to start spending more money to make progress.

This is a lie you have only played 43 hours you haven’t even touched the surface of the game yet........
you can do everything for free, I’ve played 1000 hours in this game most of them I did without spending a penny untill recently when I brought eso plus I did everything I could do now without paying anything. You can easily enjoy this game just by buying the base game and the dlc if you want to

i can do all questlines?
i can "clean" stolen items?

im fine, when i know that all

its not offense to game, i never say u cant enjoy some content (and i buy content what i wish)

Paying for content will depend on how involved you want to get into the game. I picked up ESO:Morrowind at the end of January and have barely left Morrowind yet, mostly, testing all the different race/class combinations before I decide which character I want to stick with.

The only DLC I've considered so far is the Imperial race, but at 2100 Crowns (~C$20) I won't bother. Bag space on the other hand is something you're really going to need. ZOS has cornered the market on that one.

Well, no, no (obviously, since they added some in DLCs) and yes. There are outlaws' refuges in most zones with fences, merchant and even bank, with an entrance in the city and one outside so you can enter one without being spotted by guards if they're looking for you.
Justice system was introduced in the base game. Then came Thieves' Guild and Dark Brotherhood that added some passives in their skill lines to ease things with stealing and killing, but you can do without them.

The ingame shop doesn't have any pay-to-win stuff as far as I know, it's mostly cosmetics and DLCs. Sure there are experience scrolls but that just speed things, you don't really get an advantage with it since PvE content scales to your level (up until level 50 CP160).

The ESO Collection gives you base game, Orsinium, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Imperial City, plus Morrowind and Summerset. in canadian thats $106.49.
Trigger Mar 25, 2018 @ 12:55pm
Still need Clockwork City, a content dlc. Shadows of the Hist, Dragon Bones are Dungeon dlc's.

Laundering stolent items: yes, as a matter of fact, you actually can. All the major cities have an outlaw refuge where you can do just that, no DLC required. It's totally separate from the actual Thieves Guild questline.

And speaking of questlines... you can do the entire main quest, and all faction questlines, without DLC. Plus Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, Undaunted, all crafting... there's a substantial amount of content that doesn't require DLCs or chapters.

But don't let us twist your arm. Feel free to quit playing any time, either after the free trial, or right now.
ClayboTGW Mar 25, 2018 @ 1:44pm
You can always do this as well after you buy the base game/ Morrowind/ Summerset Isle you can buy a few months of membership which gives you access to all the content and here's the trick they give you 1500 crowns per month and you can use those crowns to buy the DLCs which are around 1500 crowns each in the crown store then when your membership runs outs you still own the DLCs you bought with the free crowns
cammi Mar 25, 2018 @ 2:05pm
I started playing 6 months ago. For the first 2 months I didn't bother with any DLC because there was already enough to learn and do.

At the start of my third month I got ESO+ which unlocks all DLC for the duration of your subscription as well as giving you a couple other perks like 10% increased XP gain, a crafting bag (for all your crafting materials), increased bank space, etc.

For getting started you're probably better off not getting the DLC (morrowind maybe, summerset maybe) and learning the game and it's mechanics in the meantime. Once you feel comfortable and there's a sale (or you want to get ESO+) then do so and add more content. I have 860ish hours in the game and I'm still no where near done with...pretty much anything relating to storyline (I do have 4 max characters tho).

The "crown store" is cosmetic items. Nothing in it is necessary or game changing/breaking in the slightest - including the "bag upgrades" which you can buy in game for gold.
