Help me pick a class

Played a sorc up to 50 two years ago and had to stop. Now i'm back but i really hesitate on which class to play since i still don't know much about the game.

I'd like a stamina build, i want to do pvp and pve casually I mostly like to play alone, so i want something that is solid, have great dps and basically can handle itself pretty well (thats why i mained dk in wow). Good mobility like some sort of blink or speed would awesome too.

What would you guys recommend ?

Sorcerer is the easiest class and it applies for both stamina and magicka versions.

As stamina Sorcerer you can play both as a tank and DD. So when you queue for group dungeons, play as a tank (with tank gear and skills but CPs are for the DD) so you quickly get to play.

Playing solo PvE content is super easy as Sorcerer. Stamina Sorcerer is not the best in PvP but good enough and in Cyrodiil PvP it's player's skill which is the most important. In Cyrodiil after new changes you can earn a lot of AP just for playing smart.

Option 2 is stamina Warden if you have it. Great tanks for PvE content and you can create offensive Ice tank which does good damage (I do almost 8k) and then in PvP go as stamina healer or DD. Stamina Warden is argubly the strongest PvP DD.

I'd be more tempted by the warden. Although i'm a pure dps player at heart when it comes to group pve. Is stam warden that bad at dpsing ?

Stamina Warden DD is no. 1 stamina DD in PvP.
For PvE it's all right unless you are top player in top elite guild who does leaderboard veteran trials' runs.

I always wondered tho, they all say warden is ok at everything but not specialised at any role, but arent all other classes also ok at everything but best at their specialised role ? If so what makes warden "special"?

I like to play my nightblade when playing solo pvp. good for getting a few kills then sneaking away

You have to know there is a huge difference between PvE and PvP. What is excellent in one settings doesn't mean is good in other, too.

PvE
Magicka Warden is 2nd best healer after Templar, and I would say almost equal. Little know fact is that stamina Warden is great healer, too and there are players who play them even in veteran trials.
Warden tank is 2nd best tank after DK, and I would say almost equal. They can be played as classical OHaS tanks, OHaS + Ice Staff tanks (that's how I play it) or even double Ice Staff (magicka Warden tank).
In those two roles (healer and tank) Wardens play in veteran trials for leaderboard runs. No other classes play as tank (DK & Warden) or healer (Templar & Warden) in any serious veteran trial runs.
But not as DD in those same serious veteran trials and in official forum there are so many threads how to buff Warden for PvE DD.

PvP
Stamina Warden is for sure n.1. as stamina DD and AFAIK even overall strongest DD. It's so strong that it was again nerfed in Summerset. Still king of the hill...

To explain it further.
Warden as DD in veteran trials is all right even for the most top guilds as long as you do 35k DPS, and you can do that. Only for veteran trials leaderboard runs (top elite guilds and players -basically 1% of player base), Warden DD is out.

I'm not gonna do serious endgame content, i just don't wanna be kicked out of dungeons or groups because i'm a stam warden dps.I just want to log in after work, cruise solo through content without having to ask for help and just chill.

The thing is, i know people have many rerolls, i don't know if i'll get to that point someday but there's sooooo much to do in this game that i don't want to mess up, get to 50 and think "well ♥♥♥♥ this is not what i wanted, time to reroll and go back all over again"

Also i'm still not convinced about that bird spamable that is delayed.Can i replace it with another spammable from a weapon skilltree ? Or maybe i just have to get used to it and couple it with instant skills to do fun little bursts

I play mag warden dd as main class while it’s true they are not the easiest or say ‘best’ dd class it’s definitely the hardest dps class to play..... that being said I still hit 30-40k damage at the moment on bosses so good warden damage can be achieved it is just a lot harder (and I play argonian). This is obviously from the point of end game content.


there are top top players I’ve seen with mag warden in trials hit 50k plus but these are the best players. But I’ve never used stamina warden dd....... they are great tanks and healers, just as good as dk tanks.

Speaking of the bird skill this patch light attacks are very good you can replace it with elemental weapon from the pjsic order skill line, which you use before each light attack, so insted of bird, ele weapon>light attack, but it seems like they made the bird skill animation a lot smoother and slightly faster this patch.

Learning the class and rotation and being comfortable on a class is key tho, for me I tried sorcerer I hated it, I love the warden so naturally I play better with it, find the class that is right for you not what people say is the best the more you enjoy the class the better you will do with it .... unless you care about leaderboards you don’t need to mix max everything.

You won't be kicked from veteran dungeons for being stamina Warden DD unless your DPS is pretty low and that is known only if somebody in the group has Combat Metrics add-on. You get kicked if you queue as a tank and you are actually a DD.

Cutting Dive has instant cast. You see it delayed except it's not. After cast you immidiately hit light attack i.e. famous light attack weaving. Another spammable is Subterranean Assault which also has instant cast but attack is actually 3 sec delayed.

What weapons do you use? Classic DW/Bow combo or something else like 2H/Bow or Bow/Bow. I personally only play as an archer (bow/bow) DD on all my stamina classes.

Ive just skimmed through this, but if you're worried about reaching 50 and end up not liking your char, you can just reset all of your skills, moprhs, and attributes, heck you can even reset champion points. so experiment and see whats a good fit for your play style, dont feel like you need to create a whole new char if you dont end up liking it, just pay some gold to reset everything, i think it's like 3500 gold your first time.

Looking up build is great but you also have your own playstyle and you still want to be kind of uniqe so dont be afraid to experiment! its just a game!
