Stealing is a problem
There is a issue in the games DC cities. I know people will say "you are just salty", "go somewhere else then", ot "get good at the game". Or a mod will close the thread because they dont like opinions.

Ok so I made a character for Stealing. He was in Daggerfall Covenant, and I planned to max his Legerdemain there before moving to Abahs Landing. He was also in high rock for roleplay reasons. So after an hour of Stealing I created my own Stealing route in the Daggerfall. For the next few days the houses were always full of lockboxes. There were occasional players, but it did not bother me. However, one day I noticed a CP 720 in a house. He was just standing there. Then I saw him sprint downstairs straight to the newly spawned box. I said ahh ♥♥♥♥ then went to the next house. And there were 3 champion 190 somethings in there opening all the lockboxes. After a few more days I went to a new city. It was great. But after a few days it happened again. I ran the route 3 times and only got one lockbox. And no I am not slow, I have the steed and a lot of stamina. It is a player issue because these rich max levels are coming into the starting cities and taking everything. It would be fine if they ran a route then went somewhere else for about 20 mins, like I did, but now I have to rush through every house just to get a box. Hopefully when Summerset comes out all the CP 720s will go to Cloudrest and let me add to my tiny gold collection in peace

Is this possibly another issue with zones being for all levels. In some MMOs, zones are for certain levels, not so in this one now. Maybe they would be off elsewhere if the zone did not cater to their level? I dunno, only 89 hours into game and still a new player.

One of the Daily TG quests has you having to break into lockboxes within a specific zone. I often do these on all my characters, including my max levels, as it's a good bit of gold. These people are probably doing the same.

Plus with all zones same in regards to level, there really isn't any 'starter' zones anymore, in the sense that only low-level characters should be there. Anyone can go to any zone, including you.
Rivenspire is a good place for leveling thieving, especially up in Northpoint as there's no guards there.

Consider yourself lucky that you had a few days to yourself. Not trying to be nasty, but, sounds to me like you need to go play a single player game. As the schools close for the summer the population on the server is going to double and triple and you wont find anywhere to yourself. This is an MMO afterall.

Yes both good points but almost every single house in Shornhelm has a CP player in it. As a new and relatively poor player, I just want a couple of lockboxes but they are all taking it. And they r not doing it for a quest because I saw a guy there earlier, and hours later when I came back he was waiting in a different house

No, I appreciate the challenge of getting the goods first, but it is at the point where high level players are hogging all of it for themselves, and I am over here with 7k trying to get some gold.

Head down to the Daggerfall docks and steal your way through both ships. When done, take one of the ships to Davons Watch (Stonefalls) and steal from it when you arrive. Take the same ship back to Daggerfall and repeat.

It'll net you a good bit of gold, especially if you trash all white stuff and only launder greens & blues.

If it's lockboxes in particular you want, head to the crafting area in Bal Foyen. Although I suggest doing this during off-peak hours as there can sometimes be several others there as well.

Yes this is a good method but due to roleplay reasons I need to break into houses, mostly in rivenspire

This post is more of a rant then a discussion because there is nothing that can be done about it

There's a lot of psyop agents and mods on this game that give you all a harder time than you should because they really don't like opinions or have anything to do with anything anymore, it's getting worse.:csgogun::trazz::steamfacepalm: I just wonder what the percentage of the nationality is with this moderators chat system

You know there are other ways to get gold than just lockboxes, right? You can steal virtually anything and fence it for gold.

And again a champion 428 at the stealing location robbing every house multiple times

Seems the problem is your RP requirements. I could tell you many places to rob, some here have tried, but they don't fit into that RP mold you made for yourself.

I seem to get the DC crime spree Thieves Guild quest a lot, and that usually takes me to Rivenspire. On the bright side, we usually just steal one box and move on.

The former low level zones are great to loot. I used to hit them a lot before I joined a good trade guild and changed my money making tactics. A lot of solo players steal to make their money.

It was about 8pm eastern time, so yeah, there are people everywhere during primetime. Not much you can do about that. There are smaller cities in other zones that are empty of players with lots of locked chests...but they don't fit into your RP mold....

edit: In game now, guess where the guild sent me tonight....see you in Shornhelm, or maybe not, I wont be long

Funny, I have a few thief alts at low levels, and I haven't really noticed this being a problem. Every now and then lockboxes are in short supply in Daggerfall, but for ordinary theft or less-trafficked locations, I've always been able to get what I need.

I can understand picking an area for RP reasons, but if you're finding this to be an issue, your only options are either to pick a different area or play at non-peak hours. If you're in a busy area at 7 p.m. on a Saturday during a holiday event, there's not much to be done. It's like anything in short supply in any MMO: you get what you get, because you share the world with other people, and there's no use getting upset about it. Admittedly, it's annoying when someone stakes out a location and parks there, but it kind of sounds like you're doing the same thing and just getting mad that someone else is faster.

You might have more fun if you tried out other parts of the game, too, and just stole organically as you moved through the world. You can still level up legerdemain and acquire a fair bit of gold that way.
