The Elder Scrolls Online

Invisible friends
My friend and I play on the same server and platform, we decided to play together and meet up at the stables in town and for some reason I couldn't see their body and they couldn't see me, doesn't matter where we were on the map(outside of town as well) we couldn't see each other, except in dungeons. Why does this happen?

It's a megaserver. What that barbaric term means is that it's actually a bunch of regular servers (as in service applications, not machines) linked together. So if one is full, the main server opens a new channel and put people there. It's more efficient than having constantly full servers and empty servers.

The drawback is that since maps can have more than one channel you might not see everyone on it because they're on a different one (and since it's dynamic you can't switch on your own).

The only counter to that is grouping. The game will always put group members on the same channel, so you just need to make a party.

I could be wrong, but I think they have "instanced" servers, so it is possible that, even when in the same area, you wont see one another because you are on different servers. Sometimes typing /reloadui will help fix it.

We are in a party and still invisible to each other. But thank you for your input.

Just travel to your friend, it should port you to the nearest wayshrine but in the same instance. Other invisible case is when one of you did a quest that's changing the zone and the other didn't IIRC.

Go to your friend in the options and travel to player. It will bring you into the same instance as him.

If you can't see them just go to party options and right click on them and choose to teleport to them.

You don't need to be grouped.

Go to the Friends tab. Right click on the name and select "Travel to Player". It will put you in the same instance and at the nearest Wayshrine. It will help if your friend is already at that Wayshrine.

You can use the same technique if you are grouped by right clicking on their group line and selecting "Travel To Player".

IMPORTANT: Some areas of the game are 'Phased'. That means that they have to be progressed through in order for the next 'Phase' to be accessed. If you traveled as mentioned above, and you cannot see the friend, it is probably because he/she is further along in the story and you are in a different 'phase' of the area.
